*Elliott's POV*
And then it hit me..
I have to go see him! And right when I though he wasn't gonna die young. Oh Lucas, you little nasty.
So I legit jumped out of the sofa and put on some decent clothes. Then, I ran out of the house, grabbing my keys. I mean, I don't care if Chris and Jo are alone in my house. They won't do anything, except for maybe ruining everything, but like.. They won't steal anything, because everything I have, they have too.
So I started Jo's car and went to Lucas' house. I was there, because, well, I mean I literally am visiting my ex's house. And besides, Jo knows it was an emergency so she won't be mad about the car.
I arrived about 10 minutes later. When I parked -outside of the mansion's yard- I ran to the doorstep. And I think I lost about 30 lbs because the way to the door from the front fence is huger than my whole house and yard together.
I rang the doorbell and a familiar face opened the door.
"Well, well, who do we have here? Isn't it a suprise to have the ex of two boys on their doorstep?" He said smirking.
As an instinct, I cocked an eyebrow at him. "Move away your tiny ass, so I can pass to the better ex." I replied dryly and shoved him out the way. I didn't look back at him as I climbed the huge stairs that look like they were from a Barbie movie. Note: this is not a promo.
I entered Lucas' room, seeing him sitting near the window and looking trough. He looked so down and weak. He heard my steps and the door open, so he turned his head just to see the person he least expected.
"What are you-"
And I interrupted him by running to him and hugging him, which he didn't expect. "Don't ever try something like that again! You hear me? Never!" I yelled in his chest as I tried to stop my tears. Success.
"You shouldn't be here. Go home! You're not welcome here." He coldly replied and I got my distance from him and examined his face. I saw lines, cuts, and ripped skin on some places. It surprised me. His smooth skin was not totally ruined, but ruined enough. His arms covered in plasters and I didn't see the legs because of his pants.
"Are you done? I'm perfectly fine. Now go." He said again, not daring to look me in the eye, but looking to the floor.
"Fine. I'm going." I replied and made my way to the doorstep. When I exited his room, I closed the door and turned around just to be spooked from the familiar face I saw just 10 minutes ago.
"Next time you shove me away, let me explain the condition, ok?" Josh said. I nodded. It was kinda awkward standing close to him again. I remembered the time I was naïve and thought he would be my first and last love. Now I see I wasted my brain cells for thinking that.
I should buy some soap to clean my brain because I have some pictures that aren't really supposed to be there.
"What do you have in mind?" I asked Josh, hoping that he'd say something smart but not sound like Yoda either.
"Well, for a start don't rush him. You can't hear him at night, but he's got some type of nightmares. Dangerous ones. They don't sound good at all. He's constantly yelling 'No, please don't die E!' and it creeps me out. Even trough soundproof walls, I can still hear him yell. He went trough a lot this week. And last week. I mean, you don't see him try to commit suicide every day, right?" He chuckled at the last sentence and I punched his arm above the elbow.
"Fine, fine..sorry. Anyway, maybe you should try again. He wasn't expecting you, that's all." He said approvingly. I nodded but then added, "But what if he needs time for himself, to sort things out?"
"I think he can't do that without your help. Now go ahead, and don't look at his cuts and injuries, it makes him feel miserable. We don't want that. And remember, as much as I act all tough and pretend I don't care for him...I do care. He's a brother, not a real one, but we can put the 'step' aside, right?" He said and gave me a gentle pat on the shoulder.
I turned around and slowly opened the door. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't just l-"
"I missed you so damn much, E. The night I came into your room, I was worried. And I should be the one sorry.. I mean, who hits a girl? I'm such an idiot. I wonder why I didn't die..." He interrupted me, and came to hug me.
"Because your life is worth it. And because I'd miss you. And everyone else. Think about Kyle, Santiago, Jesse, Josh, your sister, your dad, Anne and everyone who knows you.
Trust me, you wouldn't want to die." I said in his chest.
This felt different from all the hugs I was ever given. It felt warm, and caring. It felt like home. And without him, I became so homesick...
*Lucas' POV*
I could stay like this forever.
I was told that people leave , even if they promise not to. I was used to that. People always left me behind.
And they've asked me did I try to commit suicide because of my mom's death, yes. I did.
But not only for that reason.
It was because my mom left me, yes. But a certain brunette with ocean blue eyes and a charming smile left me too. And I missed her. So much.
