Enoch's POV

I was nearing my father's office room, where he did all his important office work. He always tried to cover his tiredness, but I knew he overworked himself every day. The only thing that made him happy is mum, and us, I believe. He was never the man to plasure himself with alcohol.

Every time he came out of his office, he was tired, but he was smiling. I haven't seen him for days now.. He hasn't been out of the office. Zaja and I are very worried for him, and mommy is nowhere to be found.

You know, a twelve-year-old shouldn't think of what could possibly be going on, but I, along with my genius sister, made assumptions about everything and anything.

Our maid, Martine, was watching out for us for 3 days, 5 hours and around 45 minutes. Martine wasn't a maid to us..she was like a part of the family.

I knocked on my father's office door, but I just heard a shallow grunt. We never had any alcohol in the house, so I didn't worry about him drinking. I held a neutral face, when he opened the door.

"Dad? What happened to you?" I stood in front of my father, Lucas Jefferson, owner of Jefferson Enterprises, and blah blah blah. I realised immediately that something was very wrong, and my overthinking instincts started striking me.

" I'm fine, Enoch. Where is Zaja?" He uttered.

"She's at school now, dad. What happened?" I kept asking.

"Enoch..I don't know how to tell you this...your mum..she's dead." He said, falling on his knees and hugging me. I only noticed his shoulders shaking, and wetness on my shirt, but I was in shock to notice anything else.

"W-What?"

My father said nothing. He just kept crying, but I wasn't. I was to numb to think, or feel anything. My heart felt like it stopped and I wanted to collapse. But I kept standing, listening to my father's quiet sobs, hoping that Zaja wouldn't come and walk in on us.

Every happy moment our family had with mum flew by in front of my eyes and I let out a single tear.

"How?"

"The train she was in...it rolled down a hill after getting off the tracks..there was no survivors." He uttered, then continued sobbing.

And then I remembered how mum had been afraid of trains, and dad helped her to overcome it. Tragic.
