Joc's POV

It's been a week since she left. Her last words replay in your head. You haven't gone out at all, you didn't even reply to anyone's calls or texts. Every time your phone goes off, you wish it was her, but it's usually one of the boys texting you or calling you asking when you're going to practice. You want to practice, but you have no motivation to move on. You've called her phone at least once these past 7 days and left a text message, but it doesn't say delivered anymore like it used to. What could have gone wrong? She wasn't pregnant, you guys agreed to wait until marriage. What if she didn't want to do it? Just then your phone buzzed, still not her.

You roll out of bed to eat your favorite cereal, cinnamon toast crunch. Your phone keeps buzzing but you ignore it as you take spoonfuls of cereal. Once you finish you go to the living room to binge watch your last season on Netflix. Halfway through your show, you hear voices talking outside, you disregard it because it could be your neighbors arguing again. All of a sudden you hear banging on your door.

"Joc open up." you hear Kiké banging on the other end.

You turn off the tv and slowly walk to your room. Just when you're about halfway down the hallway, you hear the door swing open. You don't freeze, but you don't give in, you continue to go to your room.

"Joc!" you hear Kiké keep calling out.

"I don't think he's here man." he says to someone else.

"What if he went to look for her?" you hear who you assume is Justin.

You take a step closer to your room and the floor board creeks. You hear footsteps coming in your direction and you don't bother moving.

"Joc, there you are! Did you not hear us calling you?" Kiké said.

"I did." you say.

"And you chose to ignore it?" he asks.

"I did." you say again.

"You look like a mess, when was the last time you showered?" Justin asked you.

"Last week, after (y/n) left." you reply. Thoughts of (y/n) start to run through your mind, and tears form in your eyes.

"Too soon?" he asks.

"Very, now if you guys will excuse me, I have some mourning to do." you say excusing yourself.

"No, we have a game to get to, you need to get out." Kiké says pulling you back out.

"Yeah, so go clean up, and we're leaving here with you." Justin says.

You do what they say and then leave with them once you're done.

"This is a bad idea." you speak up, "We've missed you." they say jokingly.

As you pass by streets that are all just too familiar, thoughts of (y/n) keep flashing. There's this girl walking down the sidewalk, it looks like (y/n).

"Stop the car I need to talk to (y/n)." you say. Kiké stops the car and turns to look at you with confusion in his face.

"Where is she?" he asks you.

"She's right—" you stop speaking once you realize that's not her.

"You need to—" he cuts himself off before completing the sentence.

He doesn't get what it's like to love someone for nearly your entire life and then one day they break your heart. At the park, no one says hello or bothers talking to you. While you're at batting practice, everything seems so foreign, nothing the same. You take a couple practice swings and assume it's okay. When you step up to bat, you position yourself in your stance. You swing too late on the first pitch and then you're swinging too early on the next one. You finally make contact with one, but it barely makes it to the pitcher's mound. You don't care that much anymore, you're starting to doubt yourself, what if baseball feels so right, right now, but next season you call it quits?

You take another swing and the next pitch and the bat hits your back, "Perfect timing, just make some more contact." your pitching coach tells you.

"Got it." you reply. You take another practice swing but nothing, no action. After batting practice is over, you go to the clubhouse and take some time to think. You check your phone and see that you have a text message from (y/n). "I love you." it says.
