"Which one are you going to choose?" I asked Travis. We were currently sitting on a hill looking up at the night sky, waiting for the right star to wish on.
"I'm not sure, but if one catches my eye, I'll know it's the one," he answered. I thought about for a bit.
"That makes sense."
It turned silent. Nothing uncomfortable, just peaceful. We continued staring at millions of twinkling stars, looking for the perfect one... "What about you? Which star are you going to choose?" Travis asked me, breaking the silence. I had to think again.
"I'm not sure yet. I'll be like you and wait for one to catch my eye," I told him.
I could feel him watching me, while I was looking at the stars. After awhile I faced him, "What are you staring at?" I questioned.
"Nothing, it's nothing," he recited, while smiling softly. I rolled my eyes, "Not this again."
"Yup, this again," Travis said, chuckling and soon I joined the laughter.
He smiled at me and then returned to gazing at the sky. I did the same.
After a little bit, something finally caught my eye. I turned my face a little so I could get a better look at it. I gasped and nudged Travis. He looked at me and then to where I was looking.
"Make a wish," he said.
I closed my eyes and made a wish on the shooting star. When I opened my eyes, the star was gone.
"What did you wish for?" he asked.
"I can't tell you," I faced toward him, "If I did, then my wish won't come true."
"Well then that case, you don't have to tell me. We want it to come true, right?"
"Right."
We smiled at each other for what seemed like forever. Is this cliché? Yes, but now I finally understand how it feels to get lost in someone's eyes.
I broke the moment by looking down at my lap, blushing and laughing nervously. When I looked back up, I saw Travis looking away.
"I guess I can't know your wish either, right?" I said, trying to destroy the awkward tension that built up.
Travis laughed, "Right. Come on, why don't I get you home?"
"Uh, sure," I answered, even though I didn't want to go just yet.
We both stood up and made our way down the hill. Once we were at Travis' car, he held the door open for me and said, "Your ride awaits, my princess," while holding out his hand towards me.
I laughed, taking his hand, "Why thank you kind sir."
Once I was in, Travis closed the door and ran around the front of the car, to the driver's said. I giggled. Seriously! Not again. Dammit, I thought.
Hearing the door slam close made me snap out of my thoughts.
"Setting destination, Princess' home. Average speed, I have no idea. Time, again, I have no idea," Travis said trying to sound like one of those electronic map thingies.
"Just get on with it already," I said, pretending to be annoyed.
"Okay, okay. Getting on with it."
And with that, he started the engine and we headed toward my home.
Author's Note:
Hey there friend! It's me, again.. Sorry for not updating for awhile and for making this chapter so short. I kind of just wanted to do this scene and finish it, cuz' I didn't want to end the 'mood' by saying what happened the next day or something. So yeah, also... actually, nothing is really happening right now. I'm not sure what to say. Huh, uh stay great. And keep busy, or else things get boring. Peace and war!
