“Hey, babe. We're heading out for Starbucks, do you wanna come?” Connor asked as he opened the door of the back lounge where I was currently working on a song. Yup, you heard me right. I was trying to work on a song for Cali. I need to finish this by today because in two days, we'll be coming home to Orlando to perform a hometown show, where Cali and my whole family was gonna watch, and it also marks the end of my journey with these boys on tour. Ryan recovered from his flu earlier than their tour manager anticipated so he's coming back in 3 days.

I stopped strumming Connor's guitar – which I borrowed because mine was in another bus – and I looked up at him from the paper in front of me. “No thanks. Just bring back something for me.”

Connor looked hesitant for leaving me in the bus alone and I think he sensed that I was up to something and he wanted to help me considering it had something to do with music. That boy and his love for music. “Well alright, I'll be back in about 5 minutes.”

Writing a song from scratch is not the easiest thing to do in the world. You're gonna have to think of proper words that would somehow rhyme or fit how many syllables you have in a line. You're gonna need to think of the melody of the song and later put on harmonies. It definitely isn't the easiest job of all if you do not have any experience with this. This was definitely my first time writing a song. I didn't know what came into my mind. I just thought that it would be nice writing a song for my sister so that whenever she would hear it, she would remember me and everyone around her who loves her and will always be there for her no matter what happens. I want her to be reminded to fight for her life because she's a strong girl and a lot is still lined up for her future.

I crumpled the paper in front of me and threw it in the trash bin at the corner of the room where about several dozens of paper were also crumpled and wasted. I'm sorry mother earth; I know I am probably wasting trees because of this. I know I should have really used a pencil so whenever I made an error I could just erase it, but I couldn't find one so I had to settle with the ballpen that we got from the previous hotel that we stayed at.

“Venti Salted Caramel Frappuccino with extra caramel drizzle and coffee jelly for my girl.” Connor walked in and placed my drink in front of me. He plopped down beside me on the couch and he placed his chin on my left shoulder as he tried getting into my business. “So, what are you doing that you cannot get up and go to Starbucks with us?”

“I'm attempting to write a song.” I told him. I took my drink and took a sip as he did. “Note, I said attempting. So far, I'm really having a hard time and it's been about 2 hours now.”

“Can I help?” He said. I predicted that he would say that. First, because it had something to do with music and second, because probably he really saw how much I was struggling with this task. He took the piece of paper that had some lyrics scribbled on it and then he read it once. Then he placed it back down and got his guitar from me. “So what's supposedly the message of the song?”

“It's supposed to be for Cali. I was meaning to tell her through that song that I'll always be here for her. That I know the struggles and obstacles she's going through. That I wish I could take all the pain away from her and I was hoping that this song would help.” I explained. He just nodded and he started picking some melody from the guitar. At first it was a bit mellow because he was plucking the strings and it was somehow soothing, it sounded almost like a lullaby. Then the song built up when he started strumming, to I guess where the chorus would be placed.
