When I woke up the next day, I felt empty. The couch beside me felt empty. The blonde hair, blue-eyed boy that used to occupy the space beside me was nowhere to be found. I looked over at Cali who was looking at me confused. Maybe she's wondering as to why I'm looking around searching for something, or rather someone.

“If you're searching for Connor, he's in the kitchen.” She smiled at me, as if reading my mind, then went back to watching the TV. That's weird. Connor's in the kitchen? I hope he's not planning on burning this hospital down.

“Thanks.” I said as I got up and went to the kitchen. The sight in front of me was pretty much adorably hilarious. Connor was wearing an apron, attempting on flipping pancakes. The key word in that sentence was attempting. He had some flour on his arms and some on his shirt. I don't know if he has some on his face cause his back is facing me. I decided to go up to him and I wrapped my arms around his torso. He tensed up then looked behind him, at me. “What are you doing?”

“Making breakfast for us three.”

“How's it going so far?” I giggled as he placed the pan down and turned off the electric stove.

“No progress.” He chuckled then turned around so he was facing me. He unwrapped my arms from his waist and placed it around his neck then he placed his arms around my waist. I don't even know if we should be doing this. I mean we are friends and I'm pretty sure friends don't do this but this just feels so right. It feels so right doing this with him. I didn't even realize we were staring at each other's eyes until we heard Cali yelling. We mirrored each others expressions as our eyes widened to the size of golf balls and we untangled our arms around one another and rushed to her.

“CALI! Are you okay?! What's happening?!” I asked as I rushed to her side. Connor on the other side, already pressing the button for the nurses multiple times.

“My head hurts so much, Meg” She cried as she squeezed both mine and Connor's hands.

“Shh. It's okay, baby girl. The nurses are here. I called them already.” Connor said as he was rubbing and massaging Cali's head trying to make the pain go away. “We're here for you. We won't leave you.”

He gave a quick kiss on her forehead as the nurses and a doctor came inside. I realized the doctor, being Dr. McD-- erm, Uncle Mark. “What's happening here?” He asks.

“We don't know, Dad. Meg and I were making breakfast when she suddenly screamed then told us that her head hurts then she started crying.” Connor explained because I couldn't bring myself to talk. I haven't seen Cali break down ever since she was admitted at the hospital.

Uncle Mark checked Cali's chart and then he saw the problem. “Ahh, she missed a medication.” Then he looked at the nurse beside him. “Why wasn't she given a medicine yesterday night before she went to sleep?”

They went and discussed some medical stuff as I looked at my sister who has her eyes shut tight because of the pain and she was groaning and crying. I wish I could take the pain away from her. She's too young to be suffering like this. And what the heck is their problem, not giving Cali her medications at the right time?! I didn't know I was fuming until Connor came beside me, wrapped an arm around my waist, kissed my temple and said “Calm down. Dad's trying to fix everything. Everything's gonna be okay.”
