Hello again.
I literally can see you sitting in your favorite place looking at your phone.
Hoping that something finds you. Hoping something here will hold your attention. Something that will weigh heavy enough to touch you. Something that will bring out an emotion you never thought could be uncovered.
Desperately searching for that piece that will be contemplated for the rest of your waking hours.
I see you.
With the tv on. Trying to steal away your eyes from the very screen your reading these very words. Stupid commercials grabbing at your focus like an annoying child wanting you to buy something for them at the store.
I see you reading these paragraphs looking up at the movements of your pet walking around.
I wonder what it is that I have that can keep your intention of reading this writing. What do I have today, that is worth the very attention that deserves the very focus this page desires?
What could I possibly give you that is worth your time? Your full gaze? More than a distant recollection of the words here?
I see you laying on your couch holding the screen up to your face.
"Maybe this one is better than the last," you may be thinking.
Well, I am speaking to you.
You, sitting at the desktop computer near your kitchen, letting meat thaw out for supper tonight. Or maybe it's already cooking, my stories have been short lately.
But like the static from a FM stereo while driving in your car on one of those channels that doesn't come in very well. Your attention isn't getting my full signal.
   How do I keep you?
You're so far away. So very distant.
I read your words with full intent of learning who you are. What you're about. How you think when you are alone making your work your best friend. Pouring yourself into pages of word stacks.
Picking up the rhythm of syllables and the direction of your verbiage.
What do I have that can possibly touch a part of you that hasn't seen daylight in moments.
How do I identify with you as you sit there just hoping that this page doesn't suck. Doesn't lose you. Doesn't absolutely bore you.
While you're sitting on those stairs hoping to have your eyes glued to these pages with the full scrutiny. Will it be something you can critique. Will it be something you have any words for at all?
   I see your eyes roll.
