I sat in the passenger side as Stacy drove to my house.
We pulled up into the driveway of my home and parked.
"Boy. I didnt realize how bad the house really looked until now." I said as I sat in the car.
"Its gonna cost a hell of a price to fix." Stacy added.
"I said the same thing. I'm going to find a storage unit to move everything into until we find a new place or at least fix it." I responded.
I blew a breath of air out and unfastened my seatbelt to get out. Stacy followed behind me as she got out and locked the car as we walked across the street to Mrs. Watson's house.
We walked up to her front door and knocked.
"I hope nothing happened last night after we left." I said to Stacy as we waited for her to open the door.
"If something did at least we'll have a little something to go on."
"True." I responded.
The lock on the door made a loud click as she unlocked it and twisted the knob.
"Good Evening Baby, how are you?" She asked as she opened the door.
"I'm doing fine Mrs. Watson. And you?"
"I'm taking it one day at a time."
"Thats good. Thats good.. uh, you remember my friend from yesterday."
"I do. Hey baby."
"Hey Mrs. Watson." Stacy greeted.
"We came by to see if you saw anything unsual last night after we left." I said to her.
"I was just about to call you about that.. c'mon in honey." She said as she led us through the foyer and into the living room.
We sat down on the couch.
As I was sitting there looking around, I realized Mrs. Watson had a really good view of my house from her living room window. It kind of creeped me out knowing that she can see it so clear and she's the type to stay looking out the window. I thought about all the things Evan and I did in our glass filled home not knowing she had such a view like this. I laughed a little at the thought of the many unwanted views she mustve had.
"Excuse the mess, I got company over and we just got done eating and cutting up some coupons." She said as she laughed.
Stacy and I smiled.
"But anyways.. I watched your house like you told me too. Hell I watch everything in this neighboorhood but thats not important right now.. anyway.. late last night I kept seeing this black car drive by. Seemed like every ten to twenty minutes that passed by, they'd by riding along this street just creeping."
"Did you see what model the car was?"
"It wasnt one of those high class models yall have but it was an ole keep sake.. kind of looked like one of those monte carlos back in the day. They just souped it up with some big fancy rims and tinted windows.. "
Stacy and I were silent as we listened to her describe what she saw.
"Who was that at the door ma?" We heard someone from the back yell.
We turned around looking for where the voice came from but nobody appeared.
Mrs. Watson got up from her seat and went in the kitchen.
"Its my neighbors. Get in here and speak boy and stop being so rude. Screaming from the back of the house like that."
We heard footsteps approach from behind us.
"This is my son.. come to think of it, he probably could help you girls out with your situation." She said.
Stacy and I looked at each other not speaking a word.
"Good evening." We heard Mrs. Watson's son greet.
We turned around at the same time to address his greeting.
"Good Eve....." Was the only thing we could mustered out.
"You got to be fucking kidding me right now!" Stacy yelled as she jumped up from the couch.
"Cedric! Mrs. Watson is your mother?!" I said out of complete shock.
"Thats what I been told all my life." He said being smart.
"I didnt know you knew my son." Mrs. Watson added.
"Yeah.. we know him alright." I said as I crossed my arms and stared Cedric down.
"I'll meet you outside Lauren.. cause this right here.. I refuse to deal with." Stacy informed me before she left.
Mrs. Watson looked confused by the whole situation and how it escalated so quickly.
"You know what Mrs. Watson, I should be going. I really appreciate you looking after my house while I was gone."
"No problem pumpkin."
"What happened to your house." Cedric asked.
I gave him a look of disgust. Did he really think I would tell him anything after the shit he did. Boy Bye!
"Its a long story and I aint got time."
"Oh its like that?"
I raised my eyebrow at him withput saying a word.
"I'll see you later Mrs. Watson." I said to her again.
"Alright baby, if I see anything else I'll call you."
"Thank you." I responded not paying any attention to Cedric who was all in my mouth and watching my every move.
I gave her a hug and headed for the door, closing it behind me. I could see stacy posted up on the hood of the car as I was halfway across the yard making my way to her.
I heard a door close and Cedric calling Stacy's name as he ran across the yard. By the time he made it across I had already reached her.
He continued to call her but she ignored him like he wasnt standing right in front of us and I dont blame her. After all Cedric did to Stacy and us, he deserved to be treated like he doesnt exsist.
"You ready Lauren?" She asked as she clicked off her phone and grabbed the keys from her pocket.
"Stacy." He called.
"Yeah." I answered her.
She opened the door and got into the driver's seat, turning the car on after I got in and closed my door.
Cedric held on to the window as he repeatedly called her name.
"Stacy! You know you hear me."
She didnt respond. She just simply changed her gear from park to reverse and began backing out as Cedric held on.
When she realized he wasnt letting go, she hit the button and let the window up before she switched into drive and pulled off.
I could see Cedric in the rear view mirror, standing in the middle of the street with his hands on his head as we drove off..
