The very first and pretty much only thing that Yue was sure about once she regained consciousness, was the fact that she felt light-headed.
Aware that it wasn't precisely normal despite knowing that it could possibly be a cold, the teenager slowly opened her eyes, everything around her blurry to the point it was almost upsetting, so Yue had to rub them as she stretched a little bit, a deep yawn escaping her lips. After a while, alongside the awaited return of her sight as a useful thing, everything seemed to settle down smoothly enough for her to realize the feeling under her fingertips was that of a mattress and the one from under her neck was that of a pillow, and that the sight of a chandelier and a tall ceiling was the one of her room. Wind blew in softly, making her realize that for some reason the twin windows near her side table were open, the clear blue sky a welcoming sight when the feeling of dullness slowly drifted away from her brain, leaving behind a slightly confused teen with numb limbs that ended up being useless the first time Yue tried to push herself up.
It was, in all honesty, nerve wracking.
But before she could go any further into trying again and finding that something was wrong, another sound reached her ears, and now that she was fully awake and aware of her surroundings she could easily identify it.
It was Doffy's voice.
"I want to talk to Caesar. Now"
Yue blinked several times in a row
He was upset.
He was extremely upset.
Judging by the tone of voice it was likely the man thought she was asleep, the only explanation the girl could come up with when she tried to think just why he was close to screaming- She could even hear it from where she was, lying on her bed, while he probably was somewhere in the adjoined sitting room, with a closed door in between them. And now that she thought about it, Yue found it kind of difficult to remember how she had gotten to bed in the first place; Baby 5 was the first thing that came to mind when she tried to recall the last thing she had seen, because the other teenager had been with her after training, but then there was absolutely nothing but darkness and dullness. Trying once more, making sure to position her arms just in case her body fell once more, the girl tried to sit up as slowly as she possibly could, pushing aside more than one cushion and many of the stuffed animals that someone, probably Dellinger, had sent to laugh at her for a while- Unconsciously, her hand shot out to reach for the one white bear that had been her pride years ago, just to remember it laid in a bed that wasn't hers anymore on a room that laid forgotten somewhere on the North Blue.
Had she fallen asleep sometime after training? She remembered being very tired when Baby 5 accompanied her to the room to change, but was that enough to really fall asleep just like that? That theory seemed unlikely, and it had never happened before, but Yue was running short of explanations. She looked down, confirming that she was dressed in her pajamas, so the maids were involved in the whole thing- How had she not woken up with that? And even if it was a matter of silent whispers, the girl could most certainly remember someone talking around, or had that been a dream?
In either case, why Doffy was even using the Den Den Mushi of her room? His room was across the hall, was the matter so urgent that he had couldn't just cross the hallway to go to his own room?
Yue had heard the name 'Ceaser' only a few times before, never something concrete or in circumstances that allowed the man to be verbally introduced to her, so the girl had no specific knowledge about said person. Usually Doffy's business 'partners' had strange names, codenames, or names that were hard to not know already, like 'Kaido'- Now that was a name she had heard both inside the castle and outside of Dressrosa more than once, knowing that it was one of the four persons who ruled the seas. She didn't know exactly what kind of business they had going on, but Yue didn't want to know either.
The twin doors opened in unison, catching her attention as the man walked into the room, pausing for a moment by the carpet when he noticed she was awake. Doflamingo had always looked odd without his coat on, and this time as he closed the door behind him with a loud 'Tud', it wasn't an exception. The blond captain just stood in that place, taking in her wide eyes and the explanations she was silently asking for, and both his body language and constricted expression were so strange to her that Yue found herself wanting to ask if he was fine sooner rather than later. But the serious expression he had on his face was such that the girl didn't have the strength to utter a single word. She watched in complete silence and nervousness as he approached the bed, sitting on the edge while letting out a sigh that as strange as it was, sounded frustrated. When had he, Donquixote Doflamingo, demonstrated frustration while she was in his presence? In all her life, exactly? That definitely was something that she needed to be concerned about.
The silence that followed the sigh was a tense one, but she didn't dare to try and break it, stomach twisting uncomfortably under the uncomfortable feeling of not knowing what was going on. Even if he had his glasses on, she could tell that his eyes were unfocused and not really looking at anything, but his frown pulled her out of any doubt, showing that his frustration probably reached the point of annoying him to that point. Yue held onto the mattress with a little bit more of strength against her tummy, holding a breath almost without noticing it, expecting everything and anything. Had she done something bad lately? Not that she could recall. Has something happened in general, something that could make him act so strange?
"Yue" The tone he used to say her name made the girl squeeze her mouth close as hard as she could, trying hard to figure out what was happening, but it proved to be simply impossible, and how he looked resigned at something didn't seem to help. What she could see right there right now probably was the result of the accumulated fatigue that he probably never showed, and not so deep inside, growing with every passing second, something that could identify as anger "You need to know something"
There was something in his voice that had her feeling like somehow she had done something wrong, despite how it didn't precisely sound like her fault when he started talking about what could have passed as a really bad novel; something about trembling hands, something about losing consciousness, something about a doctor and something about Ceaser, and something about her nameless devil fruit. The first scene that came to mind was that time she had been able of accompanying him somewhere close to the red line for a meeting, that night's dinner and the glass that laid broken in the ground, the juice spilled all over her clothing- 'It slipped. Sorry' She had said.
Although her eyes were on him the girl didn't seem to actually be looking at the man that sat beside her, the one who watched her movements carefully, probably expecting some kind of cray reaction out of her, although he soon started thinking that she might not give him a reaction at all. Yue, on the other hand, slowly processed the information like repeating it over and over again in her head were to revel some kind of hidden message, recalling those little moments in the last year where she should have noticed that something was oh so wrong.
"There is someone that is going to start looking for a way to stop it. That's Ceaser" She vaguely heard what he said "He will stop it. I guarantee it" She was also vaguely aware that he growled a little.
It was not something that appeared just last year, she realized.
Maybe three, probably four, each and every single one of the ties when something had noticed the little signs when she mistook them for a side effect of her body being pushed to a limit she had never imagined during training- Yue had never bothered to stop and pay attention to it, even when it first happened. She had thought it was fatigue.
Her hand curled into a fist on top of her lap.
She had been wrong.
