She placed away the picture she was holding, focusing on the next one. Then the other, then one after that. Yue kept on passing the photos even when she had seen the first one about six times now- She didn't stop though, frowning and biting the inside of her mouth in frustration mixed with concentration, absently reaching out a hand to grab the cup of hot chocolate placed on the small plate on the floor, taking a small sip before putting it back to its place, crossing her legs for more comfort, seeing that her knees had begun to hurt from sitting on them for so long. Opting for spreading the stack of photos in the floor alongside the others for a better view of all of them, the twelve year old leaned forward, as if that would help on noticing something she had missed before despite how impossible it probably was, since she had analyzed every single photos so many times she already knew them by heart.
Then, Yue frowned.
It had just been a question.
Only one of the few thousands he had asked her ever since they first met, although she had absolutely nothing interesting to answer, and then chances of having something that would possibly satisfy Law's curiosity were growing thin by the pass of time. What could she possibly say to interest him, someone who could walk freely as he pleased? To a pirate? To someone who went to many different places and fought despite his young age and studied five times harder than her? The girl had lost count of the times he had left on a mission and come back with bruises, scars, a slightly satisfied look on his face and stories that turned out to be even better than the last. So why did he keep on asking?
But the question she was currently worrying about was one that had given her a sense of taboo, a disgusting feeling that had overpowered any sensible answer there might have been at the moment. But then, when her mind was at peace and she actually came to the conclusion that no proper answer was available in her brain, she had gone and searched for the box full of childhood pictures taken by maids and a now almost gone Vergo, the box that had been placed on the very top of the shelf after moving in- Sometimes she appreciated the ability her nameless devil fruit had given her, the times when she was too short to reach for something on tip toe. Shame was not even Doflamingo seemed to remember the name.
"Focus" Yue mentally scolded herself, crossing her arms over her chest as her brow furrowed even more, annoyingly aware of how her frustration grew with each photo she ruled out of her search- Even more when she had no other option but to go back and inspect the same photo just in case she had missed something "Is there another box with pictures? I'm not sure, I should look again ..."
It had only been a stupid question.
"Do you know who your parents are?"
Law had absolutely no idea how much she could get to despise him so much for implanting the idea in her head before merrily going off in some mission, and she was planning on somehow making him responsible for it. If he didn't bring her a book. Which probably wasn't the case, but that didn't mean she wouldn't try to stick to her word.
"Just who does he think he is to go and leave me with this situation?"
"What are you doing?"
Taken completely by surprise, Yue looked up almost immediately, start on her throat as the unexpected presence made itself noticed. Doffy was closing the door of the balcony with one hand, the only place he could have possibly come through since the main door had most certainly not moved an inch, approaching her with one hand tucked inside his pocket. As usual, he took a sit on the large coach, just besides her, and he was not surprised in the slightest to find the girl sitting on the floor instead of a chair and barefoot, not even surprised her hair was pulled in a poorly made bun, but he did look a little bit puzzled at the photos spread almost all over the floor around her. Raising an eyebrow at her, he waited for an answer.
