Hey Shelby! Did you complete the assignment?"my friend ,zayrah, came up to me. We spoke about our investigations, how did we plan it when suddenly a blaring noise from the speakers tore our eardrums.
"HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL OF YOU" Ryan, another friend of mine, yelled which made my mind go back to the worst memories of my life. "have you'll wished your dear mother's if not then take them for dinner at our very own traditional restaurant 'PIZZA PALACE'" he never forgot to advertise his dad's restaurant ,which made me giggle. He winked at me. "take your lovely family too" he continued. The word FAMILY again made me think of my family, the worst that god could have ever given. As Ryan still spoke on the mike , some volunteers put up posters of what a mom does for their child. I kept on staring it and recollecting the truth. Iris gave me a worried look as tears rolled down my eyes. Ryan came and saw me still fighting back my tears and Iris still giving me a disturbed look.
"miss Shelby let's go" Ryan sang that brought the smile back on my face. I was always smiling with my friends , they made me feel important and valued especially Ryan ,he is the best person to talk to he is a real true friend. Once when we had an overnight in the college Ryan and me scared all of the 200 students by making sounds of wild animals (I was forced to do so). All the teachers thanked us for adding some life to the boring sleepover. On every birthday of mine at 12 am he would come up with a cake and books as he knew that I being a nerd loved reading. He knew me in and out even Iris . if we 3 are together we don't need anyone. Often when we have our dinner at Ryan's restaurant it is the most amazing time ,we laugh till our tummy aches, and sometimes also tend to spit out the drink that we have.
"so Shelby any plans for the weekend?"Ryan asked
"no not yet why?"
"nope so that we can go to pizza.."
"palace right?" "not sure cause dad wants to get married again so its kind of a serious atmosphere at home. Let it cool down then we'll surely go"
I said and left for home.
Reaching home I got the biggest shock of my life. My whole family (except for my aunt) sat in the living room with 2 new faces .
"This is Shelby my daughter" dad introduced me to the 2 new faces .one was a lady and other a cute, handsome and a little sexy boy.
"hi!" the lady in a beautiful saree greeted me "you look perplexed so let me tell you I am you mother". I was left awestruck . 'why was everything happening so fast ' 'why can't dad talk to me' 'I know it doesn't mean anything to discuss as he takes the decision but why now?' I thought
"do you want to ask anything to your mom?" my dad asked
"you mean STEP-MOM?"I retorted and locked myself in my room. I didn't want to go out as everybody will be talking about my behavior and the usual talks they make up in the society when someone is going to get married for the second time. I felt teary and this time I just let them flow with my emotions that I had locked tightly in my heart.
