"Zoe!" Joe called desperately, crashing into her room. She groaned and opened her eyes.
"What? It's like 7 am Joe," she whined.
"I need you to wrap these up for Meri. She'll be over in a couple of hours and you know how bad I am at wrapping presents," Joe begged. Zoe sat up and rubbed her eyes.
"Fine," she huffed. "What did you get her?" she looked at the presents. They were just a couple of token presents... they didn't seem like much. "Is this it?" she asked.
"No. I also got us tickets to see Wicked in the theatre," Joe replied. "Jim said that's her favourite,"
"Wow... I've got to say, that sounds impressive," Zoe smiled as she wrapped the gifts.
"It's kind of a joint birthday and Christmas present because they were expensive and we're going to have a whole trip to London. We're going at around 2 today, and I booked a hotel and then tonight is the show and tomorrow we're gonna go sightseeing and go out for lunch," Joe explained.
Zoe looked at him seriously. "You really like her, don't you?" she asked.
"I do Zoe. I think I love her. I know I sound stupid... but I've never felt this way about someone before..." he replied.
"It's not stupid Broseph, it's love," she joked. "But seriously, I'm proud of you. And I'm glad,"
"Thanks Zo," Joe replied.
"But you do need to learn how to wrap presents because I'm not going to do it forever," Zoe added with a grin.
...
Joe and Meri fell onto their hotel bed; kissing each other passionately, exploring each other's bodies. Joe put his hand under her top and Meri gasped. He stopped immediately. "What's the matter?" he asked softly. Meri sat up and looked down at her lap. "Meri, what's wrong?"
"I... I'm a virgin... I don't think... I don't think I'm ready, Joe. I'm sorry," she mumbled. She was very close to tears. Here they were, in an amazing hotel room, they'd just watched Wicked, they'd had a delicious dinner, all paid for by Joe as her birthday/Christmas present. And she wasn't ready to give him something he wanted.
"That's okay," Joe assured her. He didn't mind at all. Of course he didn't. He was sort of shocked that she was a virgin, being nineteen now, but to be honest, she was so shy and timid that it didn't surprise him that much.
Meri shook her head and started to cry silently; tears trickling down her face. "I'm so sorry," she muttered guiltily.
Joe took her hand. "Hey, don't apologise," he said quietly. "If you're not ready, that's absolutely fine," Meri sniffed and looked up at him; her blue eyes even brighter from her tears.
"No it isn't. I'm pathetic. You think I'm pathetic. How could I be nineteen and still a virgin?" she said angrily.
"I don't think that at all. I'm not judging you. You aren't pathetic; you just haven't found the right guy yet. Losing your virginity is a special thing, Meri and you have to do it when you know you're ready," Joe assured her.
