Mal POV
Every now and then I watch Ben during Tourney practice, along with Audrey,Lonnie, and Jane, since their boyfriends are also on the Tourney team.

I sit on the bleachers and Ben sees me and winks, which always makes me blush. The coach yells some things to the team and they start practice.

After about 30 minutes everyone is all sweaty and come by the bench for some water. Ben comes up to me and gives me a kiss and runs back out onto the field.

I get a text from Evie and text her back. I look up when Lonnie says "What happened on the field?!?" I look up and see the team hovering over someone on the floor.

"Jay! Who's injured?!?" I scream to Jay. Since he is far away he mouths 'Ben' and my heart drops.

I run onto the field as fast as I can and push through the guys on the team. Ben's eyes are closed and the coach is trying to get him to open them. "BEN!" I scream and people step out of the way so I can tend to him, knowing I'm his girlfriend.

I shake him as hard as I can and he's not waking up. At this point I'm crying and the coach is calling the paramedics. I check Ben's pulse and it's still there, thank god. I kiss him and try to wake him up again, but it's not working.

The paramedics arrive and I'm a crying mess. I call Belle and tell her what happened. I could hear the worry in her voice when she says she'll meet me at the hospital.

They put Ben (who's still unconscious) into the ambulance, and there is now a crowd of students watching. Worried about Ben.

I text Evie and explain to her what happened. I ask Jay, Carlos, and Chad what caused the accident, while crying hysterically. They said that Ben tried to dodge a ball and tripped, and hit his head pretty hard on the ground. What if there's brain trauma? What if he's not okay? What if-

Jay knows that I'm thinking negative thoughts and worrying about Ben and speaks up.
"Mal he's going to be OK, Ben is a strong person and won't let this bring him down."

Jay makes me calm down and I make my way to the hospital where Belle is waiting for me.

I finally get there and see Belle waiting for me. She greets me with a hug. "How's Ben? Where's Adam?" I say with my eyes still red and puffy for crying. Still clinging onto Belle.

"Adam is on a trip with other former kings, there's no cell service or wifi where he's at. As for Ben...he um...there was a lot of blood from his head and he's... in surgery right now." Belle says sobbing on my shoulder.

That was my breaking point.

Belle and I just cry on each other's shoulders. Ben's closest friends start arriving with balloons and flowers, hearing the news. Leaving after a few hours.

It was a Friday and there was a tourney game. The team, distraught about Ben's injury, lost.

Since it was a Friday, I stay at the hospital overnight. Hugging Belle, and telling her Ben will be fine, actually trying to reassure not only her, but myself as well.

Belle fell asleep on my shoulder and I soon fell asleep too. I wake up 2 hours later when the doctor called for Ben's family. I wake Belle and told her that we could see Ben now.

We walk into the room hand in hand. I can feel Belle shaking as I open the door. The first thing I see is Ben.

He looks so peaceful. There's is a bandage on his head and he is still unconscious from the surgery. There is a small part of his hair shaved, but it'll grow back. As soon as Belle sees him she breaks down.

She sits on the opposite side of Ben that I'm sitting on so that there's people on both sides of him.

She takes his hand and brings it up to her lips. "My sweet baby boy..." She whispers kissing his hand then setting it down gently. Seeing belle like this tears me up.

"Belle go home and get some rest, I'll stay here with Ben."

"Are you sure Mal?"

"Of course Belle, you look tired and you need rest. I'll be okay. I'll call you if anything happens or if I need you."

Belle comes over to me and gives me a hug and a motherly kiss on the cheek. "Thank you for being so kind Mal. I don't know what we would do without you."

She leaves and I sit in the chair next to Ben and text Evie, saying that I'll be at the hospital tonight.

I turn off my phone and grab Ben's hand. I kiss Ben on his cheek and close my eyes and try to get some rest. Then, I feel Ben squeeze my hand back.

I swear my heart skips a beat and I immediately sit up. Ben's eyes flutter open. "Ben?" I say with tears in my eyes.

"Hey, princess."

A/N this had more Mal and Belle moments than Bal but that's ok. It shows their Mother/Daughter type relationship ❤️
