Kate still looked pitiful in her hospital gown and the tiny little grip socks they give you, however she seemed to have calmed down from all the commotion that was going on. She was watching the TV with lots of interest and Jace was just playing on his phone, looking very uncomfortable.
When James and I returned to the room, both of their heads popped up. James rushed over to Kate's side and he took her hand in his, while Jace came up and put an arm around me pulling me into a comforting embrace. Even though he smiled up at me and I smiled back, I couldn't get James' warning out of my mind.
I'm warning you Sylvia, don't trust this guy, don't tell him everything about you, see if his words match up with actions, and keep an eye on him. There are things he's not telling you and at the first sign of trouble you get out of there, okay?
Just then her parents rushed in to say their goodbyes, and we all hugged again, and final waves as made their exit. I turned to look at the happy couple, and both of them turned to me to give me bright smiles, which I returned. I can't help but be happy for the both of them. Both of them are wonderful, funny and amazing people and I couldn't ask for more, but at the same time, you wouldn't expect them to come together the way they did.
No matter. I am still wonderfully excited for them. I told myself.
"Hey, I'm gonna go grab something to eat, you wanna come with?" I asked Jace.
Looking down at me with those warm brown eyes, he smiled, "Yeah sure."
Turning to Kate and James, "Hey, we're gonna grab something to eat. We'll be right back, do you guys want anything while we're out?"
"I'm a prisoner to the hospital diet so I'm afraid not, but I would kill for a large fry right now." Sighed Kate.
"I'll take a burger and a large fry please. If they ask for a drink make it a coke." James replied as he winked.
I shook my head and rolled my eyes. "Alrighty then, I guess we're off to the races."
Jace turned and walked out, and as I moved to do the same, I could have sworn I saw James eyes darken. However, that could have been me seeing things. Uh huh
Jace and I reached the crosswalk which connected the one hospital to the children's hospital and the food court. The whole walk to the food court from Kate's room was silent. Not. A. Single. Word. Dry as a bone conversation wise. That is, until we got we got into the elevator.
"What did you and James talk about while you were out the room." Jace inquired.
Oh no. He actually asked the question. How do I respond?
"Oh not really a lot, he was just griming you and I was wondering why." I replied nonchalantly.
"What did he say?"
"The stereotypical answer. Doesn't really know you all that well and wondering why you're here."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah."
"What did you reply to that with."
"That he doesn't really know you that well, so he shouldn't be questioning you."
He smirked, "Nice to know I have a girlfriend that has my back."
Just as I smiled he engulfed me in a hug and kissed the top of my forehead. Then the doors opened and we entered the food court hand in hand, stronger than ever.
I wished I could have enjoyed it, but there was still that nagging voice in the back of my head, don't trust him.
Ahhh how's it going everybody? I know it's been almost half a year! I'm so sorry for all the writers block but I will try to keep writing, but no promises though. I love you my phoenixes and keep on doing you boo boo! ~~~Bookphoenix25
