So guess who made it to the swings first? This gurl! Man, was Jace mad when I got there first. Now as we were pumping our legs to push ourselves higher, I could see the force he was putting in his swing, pure anger and frustration.
"Hey," I spoke to Jace. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah," he said cooly.
"What's wrong?" I asked him.
"Nothing. Why would you think that?" He asked me out of breath.
"You've been pumping yourself very high, and are swinging your legs viciously."
"Oh, no. There's nothing wrong." There was an edge to his voice, but I didn't question it, instead all I could do was watch, in pure terror and amazement, as Jace flung his body off the swing, and tumble to the ground.
As he was in the air, time seemed to freeze, stuck in place. When gravity finally pulled him down, I started analyzing the options of what his outcome could be,
One: He could possibly land on his legs fracturing them, or possibly breaking them.
Two: He could land on his arms, possibly spraining or breaking them.
Three: He could land on the ground with just his body, damaging his spine or more.
I thank God that it was none of the above.
He was amazing, when he was almost down on the ground, his reflexes kicking, making him to a front roll over, his feet rolling over his head, and coming to a resting position, much like a jedi after doing a force jump. Jace looked amazing, and when I came running to him, I found there wasn't a scratch on his face.
"Oh my gosh, that was amazing," I said to him.
"Are you okay?!"I held his face in my hands, looking for any sign that he was hurt, but he only responded, by tucking a piece of hair behind my ear and running his own thumb on my cheek.
I looked into his eyes searching for a sign of hurt, or distress and found none, just pure admiration and something else that I didn't have enough time to see as he pressed his lips to mine. Making those sparks fly in my stomach, and forget even why I was worrying in the first place. He had reassured me that he was okay, and had a very interesting way of showing it. He lifted his lips from mine gently and looked into my eyes,
"Yes," he said as he looked me deep in the eyes. "I am doing just fine, and better now."
I wrapped my arms around and helped him stand again as we walked away from the playground and back to were a beautiful picnic was set up and also were Kate and James were waiting for us.
