For the next week I was brought down to Dr Martins lab and they performed test after test on me. I resisted every time but nothing stopped them. I tried to lash out, to scratch them, to attack whoever I could to get out of having to endure these tests. But there were too many Watchers to try and disarm and I felt powerless to what was happening to me.
I discovered in the second week of testing that they were trying to work out what the use of the light was that came from my hands which formed a whirlpool of energy around the room. I know Dr Martins thought that it was some kind of energy field but he wanted to know how I was the only one to produce this and no other child they tested seemed to have it. Why was I different and what could this energy field be used for?
Dr Martins tried to harness the power once it was engaged and it gave me pure satisfaction when he failed and everyone was flung against the walls and their desks. To see Dr Martins pick himself off the floor and adjust his twisted coat and dab a bleeding cut on his head was enough satisfaction to get me through more tests. I knew that he was growing impatient but I didn't know what this light was for and neither did he.
"Test her again with serum 37586" he yelled to his nurse.
"Dr Martins, this serum did not work the last time you used it on her, so what makes you think it will work now?" she replied.
"I don't know if it will work but all I can do is modify it and see whether something else happens. Now do as you are instructed and get the serum!" he spat.
He was losing control over the situation and I knew everyone around him felt the same.
The nurse shuddered as she looked at him. She knew, as we all did, that he was a ruthless man who cared for no one. How I wished that I could look into his past and see why he became the person he was. Something must have happened to turn him into this cold, uncaring man.
The nurse got the serum out of the fridge and passed it to Dr Martin's then he brought it over to me and placed the needle in my arm. It stung for a second and then the serum started moving through my veins and I could feel it moving through my body like cold liquid. It wasn't unpleasant, just an unusual feeling.
My hands started to get colder instead of hotter, which was a new, and I watched as the same blue light started materialising in my hands. At first it was a small blue dot then it started swirling in the middle of my palm like I had a small tornado. It was fascinating to watch as both hands soon had little whirlwinds created. I watched them as they moved faster and faster then moved above my hands and started seeking each other out like magnets attracted to each other. They both joined together above my body and I felt them coming closer to me. The tornado like funnel stretched along my entire body and I could hear the staff yelling at each other as it spun on and on. I had no fear of it and as it got stronger I felt my body responding to it. It was my energy swirling around near my body and it felt powerful. The tornado suddenly shifted straight up to the ceiling and then came down abruptly and into my body.
My body arched up out of the bed so much that it strained against the restraints and I felt the energy building inside of me. My hands and fingers stretched out and I felt a rush of power pulling me up and I then felt the restraints straining as one by one they broke, then the burst of blue light surged out of my body.
I heard the computers surge and the lights got brighter and brighter until everything that was run by power in the room suddenly exploded. People were screaming and running to get outside the door and I turned my head to see Dr Martins looking at his lab in horror. I had destroyed his computers and the laboratory was filling with smoke.
His eyes turned to me and he had an odd look of on his face. As I sat up on the gurney I caught my reflection in one of the mirrored glass windows and saw that my eyes were now glowing bright with the luminous blue colour that had now moved back inside me.
