Never Once A Paradise ~
Chapter Six ~
_______________________As I scrubbed the walls of the mansion, James came up to me. "How are you doing?" I looked at him with despair and he gave me a sympathetic look. "I brought you something to drink, you looked parched, but don't tell Sir Rakel." He winked.
I smiled lightly and took the glass of fresh lemonade out of his hands. I nodded my respects and he nodded back to me. "My pleasure." He bowed to me and chuckled when I didn't do anything like the last time. "Curtsy the next time if you will. " He whispered in my ear before taking the empty glass and walking off.
Good to know.
I continued to scrub the walls for the next five minutes. Rakel was hard on me, and I have a feeling I know why. So far, he's told me to wash the floors and walls, make all the beds, which if you didn't know, there were over 100 beds in here, for what reason I didn't know. He told me to dust everywhere. He also told me if the mansion wasn't spotless then he wouldn't give me my wages. But of course I had all week and three days to clean the mansion. But why leave the whole mansion up to me?
I would think you would need at least four maids to clean a whole mansion. And when I thought about it, if he was putting me to work like this and going off, I'm technically disobeying the contract because it said to stick with Rakel at all times unless told to not do so.
I mean, I'm disobeying right?
Man, this stuff is all so confusing. My stomach started to growl and I stood up. I went into the kitchen and saw no one. My only other option was Rakel as always.
I knocked on the door and not two seconds later it opened and there stood Rakel with a well mannered face, looking coldly into my eyes.
"What is so important that you need to disrupt my work?" He stood tall. "Well I was getting hungry-" He didn't let me finish before he started talking again. "Well fix you something to eat." He slammed the door in my face but I presistantly knocked on it, getting a little annoyed. He opened it quickly.
"With all do respect Sir, if you wanted this place to go down in flames, " I spoke through gritted teeth. This man really made me angry fast. "Then you would've asked me to cook me something."
He rolled his eyes. "Didn't Gabe teach you?" This guy was for real. "Do you really think one lesson would teach me how to cook? It's not like I'm a natural cook. And I would ask him but unfortunately no one is around to ask." My voice was making him uncomfortable.
"Fine. Wait here."
The guy took at least thirty minutes doing something in his room, making me wait that long. I was seriously contemplating on if I should just try and cook, and just burn this place down.
My back was against the door and when it finally opened, I leaned back and with a swift movement, a foot stopped me from hitting my head on the ground.
"Get up, it is unexplainably unsanitary to be on the floor, especially a fine lady like yourself." I got up, not yet thinking about what he said. He just strode forward while he left me thinking.
Did he just call me a fine lady? I think that heartless douche just called me a fine lady.
"Hey! " I squealed while I tried to catch up to him. Once I finally got to the kitchen where he was at, I took in a breath.
"You just called me a fine lady." I said, looking into his cold eyes. "I did no such thing."
"Yes you did-" He cut me off with his deep voice. "I did not use such words to describe a peasant." The words that he just said boiled my blood.
