Never Once A Paradise ~
Chapter Sixteen ~
_____________________I could honestly say I thought it was going to be awkward between us, but it wasn't.
To admit that I was surprised when he acted like nothing happened didn't really come to play. I mean, most boys do ignore you when you kiss right? That's what I heard from Carmen at least.
But it wasn't like that at all. Every time he spoke to me, he was cold and harsh, harsher than he was before.
He went in, not me! Of course I thought it was unfair, but Carmen just said that's how men were.
Currently I was about to get off my shift and go home to Carmen and Tommy. I was about to exit the kitchen when I bumped into Owen, James, and Rakel.
They were all talking about something and I didn't want to disturb so I quietly snuck past them.
I thought I was doing good with not budding in, until James called me over.
Let me remind you, I told him about what happened. He did this on purpose from the devilish grin he gave me.
I smiled awkwardly when Rakel and Owen looked over to me.
I suddenly looked down at my feet. "Madam Layla, Mr. Owen already knows about this arrangement," He grins even wider.
I roll my eyes. "And he has given the idea that if you two are going to make this work, you may need to have dinner together. Privately." He winked at me and I swear I could feel a blush coming on. "How do you feel about this, Madam Layla?"
I looked at Rakel who was glaring hard at me. "I don't think that's a–" I was cut off so plainly by a strong voice.
"We would love to, isn't that right Miss Olsen?" I could tell he wasn't used to calling me by my last name, I sure wasn't, the reason I was so surprised I couldn't say anything.
"Therefore it is settled. The dinner will be held tomorrow at eight." I slightly curtsey and nod my head. "I will be there."
I then walk away quickly. Have I mentioned since the kiss, Rake has made me where the stupid maid's outfit?
He said it was the only way to dress appropriately for the job. I rolled my eyes but still followed his orders.
Or course I had no problem with the dress in general, I just didn't think I needed it to do simple things such as cleaning.
I was about to go out of the mansion when I remembered I had to wait for James because he was my driver.
I wait, leaning on the poles. I glanced at the two men guarding the door. There are two more on the other side of the door. I wonder if just standing there, waiting for people to come gets boring.
I also wonder if their legs hurt. I shrug it off when I see someone coming towards me.
"Finally." I rolled my eyes, thinking the figure was James. When he came a little closer I noticed it was Rakel.
Whenever he comes near me, I always think about what happened that day.
He stopped pushing me against walls and getting too close to me though, ever since the kiss happened.
"Where's James?" I ask him. I notice a smaller figure steps out from behind Rakel.
"Right here Madam!" He gives me a smile and it feels like it's contagious because a big smile plays on my face also.
