Never Once A Paradise ~
Prologue 3/3 ~
____________________(When Layla is 17)
In all honesty I had no idea why this lady had wanted to take us in the first place. Stable home? More like a cottage divided by a home. But despite the fact that we lived in a pretty unsanitary place, I managed to make it another four years of my vast childhood.
Well until I got thrown in prison. Or in custody of the police department. How you ask, well I'll go to that later, right now I'll discuss what was happening.
My brother had just turned 11 and we celebrated his birthday with a simple birthday cake, since that was all we could actually afford. But the twist was, the cake was still so small to where it would only feed one person.
Overall, under the circumstances, Tommy was very pleased and grateful that he even celebrated his birthday one way.
Speaking of Tommy, he was beginning to get more comfortable with Carmen and I but he still didn't talk.
Carmen tried her very best to be the best parent she could be. She was thirty seven and she just wanted some of her own kids since she couldn't have any herself.
I was also becoming more fond of her until she told us that because of her dad's dept that had suddenly been her problem when her dad died, she could no longer afford the small cottage home that we had.
At least there we actually had shelter when it rained.
We were currently on the streets of Spain. Yeah, did I mention that we were in Spain? Well Carmen never said it to Ms. Foster, but she lived in Spain. She probably wasted all of her money on airplane tickets.
And well, here we are.
Tommy leaned over to me, wrapped in a blanket that I managed to forge and I heard his stomach growl.
I looked down at him while he looked up at me. I wrapped my arms around him for a quick second and let go, getting up. His expression held confusion but I left him there confused as I sneakily walked into a grocery store.
What? It was the only way to survive, and this is where I am now.

Hey! Did you like the last part of the prologue? I wanted to keep this part short because it would kind if ruin the story plot.
So bam! I made it shorter.
I just write the next part now so I must say....
Farewell, Mushy
