Never Once A Paradise ~
Chapter Ten ~
___________________"And why exactly Sir?" I ask him awkwardly. He sighs and his cold eyes bore into mine. "Because my parents are coming into town and I don't have a partner like I promised my mom I would have. If I don't have someone she'll arrange me with someone she thinks is 'perfect' for me. And I really don't want that to happen under any circumstances. So in order for that to not happen you will be my partner." He said with a firm voice.
"What if I don't want to?" I say and his reply clearly shows annoyance. "You don't have a choice. This is an order." He says, his voice becoming firm again.
His cold eyes seemed to be getting colder by the second. His face was still really pale but it looked like it was getting better. Because you know when your skin color is paler than mine, something was up, and that's what his was.
"When are they coming?" I ask, the question rolling off my tongue. "In two days." He replies, getting a book, opening it and starting to read.
"What are your parents like?"
He groan, puts his book down and looks my way, annoyed once again. "They are regular pretty old parents. My mom's name is Julie and my dad's is Allen. Just call them Mr and Mrs Rakel. My dad likes to judge a lot but he'll like you. My mom makes sure every girl that I see has to be perfect so we have to do a little question skit. Ask me a typical mother question."
In this moment he had this kind of playful boyish manner. His eyes were still cold but his tone was fun. It made me feel bubbly inside.
"Uh, " I was speechless but then I came up with something. "How did you to meet?"
He looks away at his face down book for a second but then looks back up to me. "We will tell her that I bumped into you on the streets and you kept popping up everywhere, not that you were running from the police for theft. " He rolled his eyes. "Hey I wasn't rich like you, and it was for my brother you heartless douche." This time it was I who was rolling my eyes.
He glared at me. "How many time do I have to tell you to call me Sir, Master or Leadership. Do you understand peasant?" I glare at him, balling my fists under the table. "Yeah? And how many times have I told you to stop calling me a peasant? I guess we both have things to ask of each other." My glare on him hardens as my knuckles turn white. I was about to hop over this table and slap, maybe even punch him.
Unexpectedly, he sighed and rolled his eyes. "We can't fight in this unruly manner, she'll know something is up, but we can't agree on everything or she'll know we planned it." He looked at me and with his hand rubbed his chin in a thinking kind of way. As I calmed down, I started to think more of what his mother would actually say.
"What if she asked to proved we were a couple, what would we do?" I asked the question I didn't mean to say out loud.
I know he heard me but he chose to ignore me. "If she asks how well we know each other, then we have to say very well, even though I know everything about you and you don't know almost anything about me." He shrugged at his own words.
I thought about it for a second. It was true, I didn't know a lot about him but since he ruled the country I guess he knew everything about me. Even my messed up childhood.
"Then I want to get to know you better." I say genuinely. I really needed to know more about him since I've been working for him for about a year and a half now.
He raised an eyebrow, which mad him look even sexier. I really need to stop thinking about him like this, it is very unladylike. But then again when have I ever actually acted like a lady?
