"Hurry up, we're going to be late," Audrey said over the phone. I was currently trying to put the finishing touches on my outfit. Make-up and hair had been done already, courtesy of my mom who was probably more excited for this party than I was. And she wasn't even going.
"Fine, I'm going. I'll see you outside," I muttered out, hanging up on her as I stuffed my phone and keys on my front pockets.
Rushing down the stairs, I was met with my dad and Robin, who were playing some video game in the living room.
"Hey dad, I'm going to a friend's. Mom already said yes."
"Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa, who is this friend?" he asked, pausing the game and standing up to walk to me, as Robin sighed in frustration.
"A new one, from school. Her name's Brooke."
"Do I know this Brooke?"
"Obviously not dad, we just moved."
"Where is it going to be? Are there going to be any boys? What's her number?"
"Do you want to know the hospital room she was born it too?" I said sarcastically, smiling after he sighed.
"I'll give you all the information when I get it, okay?"
"And you're gonna go dressed like that?" He eyed me up and down in a disapproving matter. Honestly, he was exaggerating. I was wearing black skinny jeans, a red tank top and a black jacket. If anything, this was too appropriate for a party.
"I'll be fine," I sighed, hugging him and leaving a kiss on his cheek before continuing my way out the door.
"Keys?" he yelled after me.
"Yup."
"Phone?"
"Mm-hm."
"Money?"
"....no."
"Great, have fun, mija!" he finally said. As a child of a Hispanic parent, I must say, it has it's ups and downs.
But I know for damn sure that if I want money, I have to ask my mom, because my dad will just tell me to find a job. Which, theoretically, I should do, but who's caring right now?
"Finally," Audrey complained as I reached her car. "What took so long?"
"Do you have Mexican parents?"
"No-"
"Okay then. You don't know what the struggle is."
She just shook her head and drove us off to Brooke's.
"Hey Lexa," Noah greeted from the backseat.
"I didn't even notice you," I responded. "But hey back."
"Gee, thanks a lot."
After a few minutes of Audrey and Noah arguing, Noah trying to change the music station and Audrey nearly stopping the car to hit him, we arrived at Brooke's house.
But much to my surprise, this was not a house. It was a damn mansion.
"What the hell....?"
"I know," Noah said in awe. "The benefits of being the mayor's daughter."
No wonder she's so fashionable.
Audrey and Noah both walked ahead of me as I stared at the huge building. Not even in New York had I seen something this big. Ever.
I shook my head slowly, in awe just like Noah, as I followed their footsteps up to Brooke's castle.
