"Wait, everything?"

"Yeah," Jake told me over the phone. "The entire house apparently burned down."

"Well, is Emma okay?"

"Yeah, she's fine. Eli too."

I scoffed. "I could care less about Eli, he's really weird. I get a bad vibe from."

"Wow, you really are an asshole. I like it."

I smiled, and was grateful that he wasn't there to see it because that would only increase his already huge ego.

"Okay, yeah. Well, I have to go now."

"And let me die of boredom?"

"And help Brooke, actually."

I sighed in exhaustion, remembering our previous fight. I was currently in Audrey's front yard, pacing back and forth as I spoke to Jake, looking over at the front door every five seconds to make sure they weren't listening.

"What's wrong?" Jake asked.

"Nothing, it's just... Brooke and I are kind of not in such a great place."

"What? Why?"

"We went over to where she left Branson, and he wasn't there. She lost it and started screaming at me, telling me that I was the new killer."

"Wow."

"Yeah, and she started throwing punches at me, so I had to fight back. I feel terrible."

"It's alright Lex Luthor, I bet it was worth it."

"Why would it be worth it?"

"I mean, a cat fight? I bet it was super hot."

"Yeah, too bad you missed it," I teased, sitting down on the porch steps.

He chuckled on the other line.

"Would you stop being such a tease? That's The Jake's job."

"Ah, we're back to that."

He inhaled a sharp breath. "Yeah, it's too bad I missed the fight. I guess you're gonna have to fight someone else, huh?"

"Sure. That someone else would be you."

"I wouldn't mind that."

I could almost hear his smirk through the playful tone in his voice, and decided to instead just stay quiet for a few seconds.

"Well, I really do have to go now," I told him.

"Sure."

"Okay, bye."

"Goodbye, Lex."

I hung up quickly before the conversation could go on any further, and fortunately for me I didn't have to walk back into the house for Audrey and Brooke both walked out, both of them looking ready to kill someone.

"Ready?" I asked them, even though I knew the answer.

"As I'll ever be," Brooke answered, the three of us walking down the porch after that.

-

"Im just saying I need a quick pitstop before we go kick ass," I told them.

"Hurry up," Audrey said as I got out of the car. "We don't have the time."

"And bring me a cookie or something," Brooke called out.

I rolled my eyes, walking into the cafè quickly as to not waste any time.
