"What else did you see?" Sheriff Acosta urged me.

"I already told you, I heard something and saw it was Jake, and we all saw Piper in that room. That's it, there's nothing more to tell," I responded for what seemed like the billionth time.

"Are you sure there's nothing else?" he went on.

"We already told you, Sheriff," Jake broke in, nearing us as he stood behind me protectively, almost possessively.

The sheriff stared at him for a few seconds before he turned to me, giving me a simple nod before he left, walking towards Emma and Audrey.

"Lexa," I heard my mom scold, and I groaned slightly, knowing the immense trouble I was about to get myself into. I felt Jake slightly touch my hand, as if he were trying to hold it but stopped him from doing so. It was reassuring though, and I couldn't help the slight burn in my cheeks, but I had to talk to my mom.

Slowly and reluctantly, I left Jake and walked a few feet to my mom who had been pushing people out of the way to get to me.

"I can't believe you," she scolded roughly, her hands going to her hips.

"I'm sorry, mom, I-"

"Don't," she said, clenching her jaw in anger as her head slightly turned to the side. She took a deep breath in before looking back at me, her face still hard and cold.

"We're going to talk about this later," she finally said, roughly grasping my arm and pulling me away. "Some of us have important jobs, Lexa. I have to get back to the Sheriff, but you better be home by the time I get there."

"But I have to talk to Emma and Audrey-"

"No, no you don't-"

"Mom this is important!-"

"Did you not hear me?" she nearly yelled, stopping and turning around to face me with a frown on her face. "You're going home and don't you even think about leaving because I will put you on house arrest if I have to."

"What - is that a threat?!"

"It's a warning. And I don't want you hanging out with those friends of yours."

"What the hell! This isn't even their fault. There's a murderer out there-"

"Which is an even bigger reason for you to stay," she argued, stopping again as we reached one of the many cop cars, opening the door for me as she almost threw me in there.

"Take her, Benny," she ordered the male cop standing by the car.

"Mom wait!-"

She shut the door before I could get out, and I watched her walk away as that Benny guy stepped in and turned on the car, shortly driving off towards my house. The entire ride I just stared out the window, as the trees blurred past us. My heart was still racing from that scene with my mom, it was exhilarating, thrilling even. But it was terrifying, knowing that I had gotten caught, and that I was forbidden to see the only friends I had.

It was almost natural for me to cry, being pushed under all the chaos was, well, chaotic. And I tried my hardest to contain my emotions, since it would be embarrassing to burst out in tears in front of my mom's friend. He could easily tell her, or anyone for that matter, and I didn't like sharing my pain. At least, not anymore. This wasn't New York, it wasn't hot dogs and rainy days.

No no, this was Lakewood, the town of murders. But really, what did I expect?

"I can't believe you!" my mom yelled at me back home. I had been asked - more like yelled at - to sit in the living room with my parents to discuss my actions, as well as my punishment for said actions.
