Ash Pov

I was hesitant to leave Ava in this state, she looked so peaceful laying on my carpet motionless. While the whole room was filled with screams of terror. I didn't spare it one glance as I said my final goodbyes to my beauty.

It was truly a representative to the metaphor 'you don't know what you have till it's gone'. I hated the fact that I was rude I tried to be kind but my aggressive and over emotional side always seem to make an appearance which somehow managed to make everyone leave me.

I leant down close my breath fanning her cool skin making her limp and lifeless hair rise from my attempts at controlled breathing. I planted a soft kiss upon Ava's forehead her body not even taking account in what I did, it only made my fears confirmed.

She's gone.

"Love you precious," stroking her hair out of her face one last time, I stood up off the carpet standing next to her motionless body the room now empty of any sounds but war cries raged on outside the pack house. I always pictured the perfect mate, or no mate at all but when I ended up with Ava I was confused yet flattered. She was such an interesting creature with suck an interesting back story I think I instantly fell in love with her.

"We have to leave, the pack members are dying out there!" My wolf Michael yelled angrily in my mind now fully back from the effects of the wolfsbane, he was ready to protect his pack from danger. It was a natural Alphas instinct to protect there pack but my wolf was torn between leaving our dead mates body or helping our pack members win a loosing battle.

My wolf and conscious chose the former.

"Let's make Ava proud," I voiced to more myself than my wolf, not wanting a response I quickly blocked my wolf out of my head mentally preparing myself for battle.

I sprinted out of the room and onto the balcony throwing the French doors out of the way the glass smashing all over the concrete balcony but I payed no insight to the broken house and the effect it had on my feet as I bounded from the railing and down onto the soft grass below shifting mid air into my wolf.

He was black with electric blue eyes that compared to my human form were quite a sight. My wolf was so plain yet intimidating the colours of wolves were passed on by genes not anything to do with status but I fully knew why my wolf was black.

All the greatest Alphas wolves had black coats of shimmering fur.

My attention was shifted back to the fighting as I heard different cries and howls signalling along the backyard of the once happy and joyful pack house. The backyard was a mess wolves fighting everywhere women running around carrying there kids and children some were crying, screaming for someone to help them or to help them find there 'mummy'.

The once soft and perfectly trimmed grass was now a dark red shade like crimson that made my insides do a backflip. The bodies that laid on the ground were mostly naked as when you were killed in wolf form you returned to your human form which we don't wear clothes after we shift because they all ripped to shreds.

One body was especially nauseating, a woman laid on the ground her eyes wide open but no pupils or colour just...white. It was obvious her eyes had rolled to the back of her head making her looked possessed and it scared me to be honest. Her face had slight scratches over it and the corner of her mouth had a streak of red running down her chin and onto the grass below signalling internal injuries...they were quite obvious these internal injuries. Her wounds made me sick as her whole chest down to her stomach was scratched and clawed at till her insides were forced out of her, the intestines and kidneys flopping onto the grass next to her still dripping with fresh blood.
