Chapter 13 | Visits From An Old Friend

Ava Pov

After the army of rogue wolves finally calmed there powerful cries and cheers of excitement they were left in an open field with the early morning sun still breaking over the horizon.

I watched as all the shifters stood in all there naked glory looking at me expectantly, it made me cower slightly.

"Oh, did you guys have a base where we could heal and restock weapons and food?" I asked praying that they did.

Nathan was the first one to speak up. "Yes, it's about a days run from here," Nathan concluded pointing north all the while.

I nodded my head. "Since you were just in battle we will run for as long as we can, stop to hunt, rest then continue on forward and hopefully we can reach the base by early sunrise tomorrow," everyone nodded with a smile on there face.

"Shift now and we will begin to run," everyone nodded and the shattering of bones was heard all throughout the forest as everyone changed into there wolves.

"Alph-" Nathan started but I cut him off before he could finish that word

"Call me Ava, the word and title Alpha gives the impression I'm a cruel and savage leader which I am not," I concluded with a soft smile, Nathan stared at me for a moment longer before a soft smile was plastered on his face.

"Uhhhh, Ava can you shift or are you going to run with us in human form?" I chuckled at him.

"I'm not going to shift because I can't, this curse gives me the ability to always have my wolf powers and what I'm guessing vampire powers out all at the one time, it's quite cool." Nathan nodded, "I'll be running along side you in human form, I'll tell you if I get tired and ill just jump on your back or something." I breathed a breath of laughter.

Nathan smiled at me, "It would be an honour," Nathan ended his wording with a slight bow as if he was a knight in shining armour and I chuckled at the sight.

"Shift before we leave you behind," Nathan complied with my order as instantly his wolf broke the surface. Nathan's wolf was gorgeous it was a deep blue not black but blue and his eyes shined emerald green just like his human form.

"Lead the way," I told Nathan's wolf and he smirked before taking off in the direction he pointed to just before. "Let's move!" I yelled out and I ran after Nathan's wolf everyone else following soon behind us and it was a magnificent sight. Hundred over hundreds of wolves ran in one massive pack through the forest, everyone's feet and heavy breathing being heard for miles.

I was smiling as I watched my new pack sprint across the forest brush along with me.

I laughed as I felt my smile widen as I faced ahead. I watched the birds leave the trees before we managed to get close and the sounds of scampering feet from small woodland creatures hoping to get away before we got closer.

I didn't realise it but we had been running for miles and one wolf was worrying me. She had a broken leg that was still in an odd position and as she tried to run you could hear her whimpering loudly, I praised this girl for her fighter spirit but at this rate she's gonna have a deformed leg if we keep running.

"Let's take a break!" I yelled, everyone went into a slow jog in there wolf forms until we came to complete stop. "I want half of the pack a mixture between trackers and warriors to go and hunt, don't come back until you get at least enough so everyone gets a bite! GO!"
