Reader POV

It better not rain, I forgot my umbrella today! I pouted as I looked at the grey sky looming over the school. I looked back into my classroom and to the back of heads from my other classmates. Being in the back does have its perks as I can daydream and not get caught. I looked beside me and saw Chi-chan staring at the board sensei was writing on. Chi-chan has been my friend since I first moved here when I was 9. He has always been quiet but once you get him to talk he is a great person to talk to. I smile as I started to think back when we were smaller and how we met.

~ Flashback ~

" (Y/N) go play with the other kids and make new friends!" I hugged my mom and kissed her cheek and said," Sure mommy!" I ran over to the park and looked around, where should I start? I walked around and saw one kid with silver hair sitting by himself and reading a book. I should go over and talk to him! I walked over and stood in front of him and said," Hi! I am (L/N) (Y/N)! Who are you?" He looked up from his book and said," I am Mayuzumi Chihiro." I smiled and stuck my hand out to him from him to shake. However he just looked down back on his book. I put my hand down and sat beside him and said," What are you reading about?" He lift his book up so I could see the cover and said," Just a light novel." I nodded and then he closed his book and said," I've finished my book, I will be on my way now." When he stood up I grabbed her wrist and said,"Wait! I want to show you something cool." He sighed and I took that as a yes! I dragged him over to the jungle gym and climbed up to the top. Chi-chan also climbed up to the top and sat down. I pointed to the sunset and said," Isn't pretty?" I looked at Chi-chan and he had a small smile on his face and he said," Yeah." We stayed up there for a bit and I started to feel dizzy. My grip on the bars started to loosen and I could feel myself tilt forward. Suddenly my grip let out and I started to fall. I prepared for the impact but instead I felt like I was hanging. I looked up and saw Chi-chan holding onto my hand and started to pull me up. I pulled myself up and smiled at him and hugged him. I then said," Thanks Chi-chan!" He looked the other way and said," Sure." I laughed at how shy he is and hugged him again before having my mom call me. I let go and said," I'll see you later Chi-chan!" I waved him goodbye and he gave me a small wave and I went to my mother.

~ Flashback ~

That wasn't the last time I saw Chi-chan as he was in my class since that day and he lived next to me. Ever since that day he has been like a big brother to me. But my feelings then started to feel stronger for him. He would always help me when I needed it and he was sweet in some moments. Before I could daydream any further I heard the bell go off signaling that school was done. I packed up my things and headed down to the gym to help out the Rakuzan High boys basketball team. I've always been the manager since year 1 and Chi-chan was there as a player. But then he filed a resignation to the team. Of course I wasn't happy about that but I kept going on anyway. Before Chi-chan's resignation went through he was stopped by Seijuro. Seijuro helped him discover a new part of him in basketball, he became Rakuzan's phantom sixth man. I was glad that Seijuro got him back onto the court. When I arrived to the gym the team was already starting warm ups. I ran over to the bench and put down my bag and picked up my clipboard. I stood by the bench and started to take notes on the team. By the break time I handed everyone a small towel and a water bottle. Where is Chi-chan? I looked back on the court and saw him standing there and I walked over to him and handed him his towel and water bottle and said," Chi-chan, why aren't you sitting down?" He took the towel and wiped himself off and took the water bottle and drained it. He then said," I don't know." I laughed and said," You should rest when you can Chi-chan!" I took his hand and sat him down on the bench and made him rest. I laughed again, silly Chi-chan.

Mayuzumi POV

I stayed seated on the bench and then I glanced back up to (Y/N). For sometime now I've had feelings for her but I don't say anything as I don't know what she feels. I watched her laugh along with Kotaro. She is the first person in my life that actually noticed me first and tried to become friends with me. All the other kids ignored me or didn't eve know I existed. She is very smart academically, but other than that she is very dense. She is so dense to the point where Akashi is clearly mad she doesn't even bat an eye or flinch. No one ,even Akashi, can stay mad at her anyway. She has a unique way of doing things and staying on people's good side. I stood up and made my way to (Y/N) to listen to what she had to say. I couldn't keep my mind straight as she was talking because all I could think of was her and how she manages to catch me off guard. I've spent so long building up walls around me but she could break them down with ease. By the end of practice I changed out and saw (Y/N) waiting by the school gate. I walked up to her and saw her smile and say," Chi-chan! You take so long to change! Oh and can we make a stop by the convince store? I need a snack." I nodded and she started to walk. We walked and she started a conversation about a light novel so I couldn't help but talk. When we reached the convenience store (Y/N) made her way to the ice cream and I followed. " Ne, Chi-chan what do you want?" I looked into the freezer and said," The vanilla." She nodded and picked out the vanilla and then pick out a (F/F) popsicle. She went to the cashier and paid for them and we headed out. She handed me my ice cream and then she opened her own and started to eat it. We started to cross the road but then I noticed a light come on and become brighter with every passing second. I looked to see a speeding motorcycle I dropped my ice cream and ran to (Y/N) and grabbed her waist and pulled her out of the way. I turned my back to the ground so when we fell (Y/N) wouldn't fall onto the ground. I squeezed my arms around (Y/N) and closed my eyes. "C-chi-chan! Are you okay?!" I looked to see (Y/N) on top of me shaking my shoulder. I got up with (Y/N) still in my lap. I felt blood rush to my cheeks so I turned my head and said," Y-Yeah. What about you?" She turned her head and held her ankle and said," I may have rolled my ankle." I helped her up and brought her to the nearest bench and sat her down. I looked at her ankle which was extremely swollen. Tch, what a pain. I sighed and took (Y/N)'s bag and turned my bag to her and said," Get on." I could hear her laugh as she said," Thanks Chi-chan!" She climbed onto my bag and I lift her higher up and started to walk. After a while I looked back and saw (Y/N) asleep on my back. I sighed and said," Must I always take care of you?" I kept walking and I knew I had to say it once at least aloud because my mental state could not take it anymore. I took a deep breath and said," I-I love you (Y-Y/N)." I kept walking but then I heard a voice say ," I love you to Chi-chan."

BONUS ENDING:

Reader POV

While I was on Chi-chan's back I closed my eyes to rest a bit. I heard him complaining about taking care of me and I couldn't help but smile a bit. After a couple of minutes he said," I-I love you (Y-Y/N)." My eyes snapped open and I smiled again and said," I love you to Chi-chan." He then started to pick up his pace. I laughed and kissed him on the cheek and said," Silly Chi-chan."
