Why Today?

Reader POV

Ugh, I finally finished the chocolates after pulling an all-nighter. While doing the dishes my nose started to itch. Oh no. ACHOO! I jumped back a bit as I felt my sneeze shoot out of me. "You've got to be kidding me." I made my way back to the sink, but my vision was getting blurry at an alarming rate. Shake it off (Y/N). It won't be long. I leaned over the sink but felt my grip loosen.

THUD.

Midorima POV

I sat at my desk ignoring all the squealing girls. How annoying. I glance to the empty seat next to me and then to the clock. It's already 8:25, where is she? I know she is careless about her timing, but she is never this late. "Everyone! Sit in your seats! The class is starting now, I have to take roll." Sensei went through the roll and said, " (L/N)." No response. He groaned and said, "Has anyone seen (L/N)-san?" No one said anything so he marked her absent. (Y/N), where are you?

~ Time Skip ~

Lunch time came around and still no sign of (Y/N). What if she was hurt? I shook my head, maybe she is just sick. As the seconds wore on I could feel myself grow even more anxious. I need to check on her. I stood and gather my things not even bothering to tell anyone where I was going. I made my way to her house which was a couple houses away from mine. I got the key from under the doormat and opened the door. I slipped off my shoes and put on the slippers and said, " (Y/N). Where are you?" I walked around and heard nothing. I went to the kitchen and I felt my heart drop. Instantly, I ran over to her and cradled her in my arms. She has a cold. I carried her up the stairs and laid her on the bed. I went back down and gathered some supplies to help her get better. I placed the medicines, the water bowl, and the towel on the bedside table. I dampened the towel and placed it on her forehead, please be okay (Y/N).

Reader POV

I slowly opened my eyes but felt a pounding in my head. What happened? I look around the room with my still blurry vision and saw Shintaro sitting beside my bed with his head laid on the bed. I shuffle under the sheets to free my arms. Without thinking, I reached over to his head and ran my fingers through his hair. Soft. His eyes opened and he stayed still for a bit. In a second, he shot up and adjusted his glasses and said, "W-What are you doing?" I shrug and said, "You're the one talking." I looked at my clock and the time was already 9:57 pm. I take the towel off and said, "It's really late you should be home." He turned his head and said, "I know that. I just came here b-because you didn't show up to school. N-Not that I was worried or a-anything! I just need to keep my promise I made with your parents!" I smile as he spewed out the words as fast as he could and tried to hide his red face. I sat up and he turned his face back to me. "Stay here for a minute. I need to get something." I walked downstairs and got the bag of chocolates on the counter. I took a deep breath before returning upstairs. I went back to my room and found Shintaro still sitting beside my bed. I sat in front of him on my bed and held out the chocolates, "Here, I made these for you. I guess they can be a thank you for taking care of me. But also for the way to say..." I cut myself off from there and smiled at him, "I love you Shintaro Midorima." His face grew even redder than before and took the chocolates and said, "I'll take them so they don't go to waste. Not t-that I like you or anything!" I laughed and hugged him. I pecked his cheek and said, "I love you too."
