Dad pulled into the old gravel driveway and cut the truck off. I hopped out and grabbed my Nike skate bag and threw it over my shoulder.
"Uh dad? Where is my school bag?" I asked, slightly confused. I had put the mint green bag in the back of his truck earlier. Where was it?
He chuckled and held up the bag. "Right here princess!"
I smiled and quickly rushed to the house. "Last one in is a rotten egg!" I shouted as I reached the door.
"No fair!" He called out as he trailed behind me. I threw the door open and the cool air hit me in the face. Man it was cold in here!
Oh great, that means mom isn't home. The smile grew on my face and I walked to my room to toss down my stuff.
When I got to my room, the door was open and my room was an absolute mess! My skate uniforms were thrown everywhere, my trophies knocked down and where my jewelry box sat, was a note.
I lightly picked up the crinkled price of notebook paper.
Kyra,
With regionals coming up, I know you are working very hard to win the crown and 50,000 dollar cash prize. But news flash, you wont be keeping the prizes as long as I'm around. So here is how this little arrangement will play out, if you win, you will hand it over, but if you don't, well you better find a way for it to land in my hands. Or else. Until then, I have your diamond encrusted ring and necklace from Blake. Get me my money, and I'll get you the ring and necklace back.
Tears welled in my eyes as I opened the small silver box with my initials carved into it. I hesitantly flipped the top open and stared inside.
Where the ring and necklace once sat was a sticky note. One dated back four years ago.
'Ky, I'm always with you at heart. I love you little sis! <3
Love, Blake'
