•Vanessa POV•
I was so excited, yet curious about what was at the address. Why was I chosen? Was it a mistake? Who gave me this? My mind raced with questions as I called a taxi.
"Where to kid?" the taxi driver said while smoking a cigar.
"Uh 45 East Evan St," I said.
When i got there i saw a large building that looked very old and dirty. As i got out of the taxi and started walking up i heard a voice.
"Vanessa?!"
I turned around and to my suprise i saw...Daniel Atlas.
"Danny!!"
"Hey! What are you doing here? Wait?" He spoke a little softer. "Did you get a card too?"
I've known Daniel since i was a kid. He was practically my best and only friend in elementary school. We grew up together until he moved in 8th grade. He too had a facination in magic. He, however, got into it at a younger age. His father was a magician and taught me and Danny a few tricks when we were about 10 years old.
"Um yeah, i got a card too. Young Goddess," I said with a little chuckle.
"Lovers," he said as he showed me his card.
I took a deep breath. "Well we should go in."
"Nice hair by the way," I added with a wink.
When we walked up, there were 2 people waiting. A man and a woman.
"Well hello there beautiful," the man said to me. I smirked and said hi as well.
"I'm Merrit Mckinney, mentalist and hypnotist." Merrit said showing us his card. It said, "Hermit."
"I'm Henley Reeves, escape artist and stage performer," she said. Her card said High Priestess. "We meet again Daniel," she said.
"Henley, um what a suprise to see you here," Daniel said.
"Wait so you two know eachother?" Merrit asked. "Hold on, I got it..... Henley you and Daniel were boyfriend-girlfriend?"
"Oh god no-no," Daniel and Henley said together.
"I was Daniel's assistant, until he told me I was too fat."
"I said that one time because you couldn't fit through the trap doo-"
"No one could fit through that box," Henley said with a bit of frustration in her voice.
"Rebecca fit for years," Daniel said adding emphasis on years.
"Whatever," Henley said rolling her eyes. I laughed.
"And i'm...." But before i could finish, in walked probably the most handsome man i had ever seen. When he walked up, we stared eachother in the eyes for a good 3 seconds, before we both eventually looked away. As he walked closer I finally was able to speak, and I introduced myself.
"Vanessa May, close up magician," I said showing everyone my card.
"Jack Wilder, sleight of hand illusionist," giving a little smirk while staring at me. I couldn't help but slightly smile.
His name stuck with me like glue. Jack Wilder. What a handsome name for a handsome man.
"No way. J.Daniel Atlas i'm a huge fan of your work, I-I idolize you," Jack said, starstruck.
"Well thank you Jack," Daniel said.
"So are we waiting for someone or ?" Jack said, pointing to the door.
"It's locked," Merrit said.
"O-Oh nothing's ever locked," Jack said walking up to the door.
He stuck some metal piece in the door and within a few seconds, he opened it. It was an old disgusting apartment with no working lights.
"Hey what's this?" Daniel said picking up a note on the floor. It said,
"Now you dont".
Henley picked up a rose and put in a vase with water. As soon as she did the water from the vase started to come out of the bottom and created a shape in the floor.
"Vanessa, did you do this? Daniel asked me.
"No but i wish i did..." I said staring at the floor.
Then a hologram appeared in the middle of the room.
"Blueprints," Jack said with a woah in his voice.
"Amazing," Henley said.
And with that The Five Horsemen were created.
