Getting ready

"MOM!" I yell down the stairs.

I see a flash of red hair as I turn around "yes? What? Are you alright?"

I slouch in front in my wardrobe, something I never do. Mom walks to me and pats my shoulder and laughs "big night huh?"

I look up at her "I'm going to the woodwork's house for dinner"

Mom blinks at me in surprise but then smiles "Marlee and Carter? Oh how nice, give them my love." She throws a light blue dress on the bed for me and leaves skipping. I roll my eyes at her predictable choice.

I look in the mirror and smile at my mom's choice. It's casual yet elegant. The neckline is low and v shaped to the belt. Flowers line the top and the skirt falls smoothly to just above the knee. I throw on a pair of white strappy sandals.

The doorbell rings and I run downstairs. But of course I'm too late, mom's already opened it and invited Kile in. I roll my eyes and walk into the kitchen. Kile chokes on his tea when he sees me and I stifle a laugh.

"Should we go?" I ask

Kile nods and I say bye to mom. "Thank you for the tea Mrs Schreave."

She smiles at him "don't be silly sweetheart, call me America."

Kile nods and guides me out.

The car ride was quick, but that was probably because it was so much fun. We talked about when we were little and how close we were. We laughed about the time he and Ahren tied me to a tree and left me there until the next day. The car stopped in front of a big blue house with a red door.

Kile laughs "nervous?"

I nod "a little"

He unbuckles his seatbelt "don't be you look beautiful"

I blush it's Kile get over yourself I think.

Kile comes around and opens my door and takes my hand. I smile at him slightly "don't think I'll be nice to you now" I say

"I certainly hope not"
