Dinner and Questions

"How was the party?" Mom yells as I walk into the house

"Good. Really fun actually" I smile at the memories from last night

I take a seat at the breakfast bar in the kitchen and mom leans over the counter.

"Did you have fun with Kile?"

"Yeah I did"

Mom starts cutting up some lettuce and tomatoes. "The woodworks are coming by at 6 for dinner so please be presentable by then"

I smile "okay."

I walk upstairs and my phone rings

"Hello?"

"Eady?"

"Ahren! Finally, do you know how worried mom is about you? You haven't called in a month"

"I know I know I'm sorry" he sounds exhausted "I have a surprise though"

"What?"

The doorbell rings and mom screams. I hang up the phone and run downstairs and straight into ahrens arms. Dad hugs Ahren as another figure walks into the house.

"Uhm Ahren..." I say looking at the stunning blond girl in the doorway

"Oh everyone this is Camille, my girlfriend"

My jaw drops, Ahren has a girlfriend. An actual real life girlfriend. Mom and dad shake her hand and welcome her in while I stand like an idiot in the hallway.

"So Ahren I hear youre away in France for schooling this year" Carter says as we all sit around the dinner table.

Ahren dishes peas into his plate "yeah but I'm thinking of going to college there too" he smiles at Camille

Mom looks down with a small frown and I know she'll miss him.

"Eady" Kile whispers "I wanted to ask you something later"

I smile at him "okay" he squeezes my hand under the table

Ahrens watching us with curious eyes. He and Kile used to be best friends, they tied me to a tree after all.

"So Ahren how long have you and Camille been together?" Kile asks

"Four months"

I almost choke on my food. Four months. We only moved one month ago.

The rest of dinner went by quickly. Ahren and Kile talked about the old days, Camille and Josie talked about makeup and jewellery and I sat there like an idiot. Every once in a while Kile would squeeze my hand under the table and smile at me.

"Eady?" Kiles looking at me funny "what's wrong?"

I smile at him "nothing"

He shakes his head and laughs "if you say so" his hand runs through his hair "I wanted to ask you something"

"What is it?"

We're standing on the porch alone, the others are still inside.

"I realised yesterday that I never asked you to be my girlfriend... So would you?"

My mouth falls open but I smile "yes"

He put his hands on my waist and pulls me into a kiss, I wrap my arms around his neck and kiss him deeper.

Someone clears their throat behind us and we turn to see everyone standing at the door. Mom and Marlee are smiling like the best thing ever just happened. Dads and carter are laughing. But Josie, Josie looks like she wants to kill me.
