"Eadlyn! Hey Eadlyn!" I turn to see Erik running towards me.
"Oh hey"
"You walk fast" he says catching his breath.
I laugh "yeah I guess" I pause "did you want to talk about something?"
"Oh yeah. I uhm– well I. There's a party on Saturday and I was wondering if you wanted to go with me" he scratches the back of his neck.
"Oh. That's really sweet Erik but someone's already asked me" I give him a sad smile.
"Oh yeah of course." He pauses and smiles at me "I guess I'll see you there though"
I smile, glad I haven't offended him "yeah definitely"
I walk to my locker only to be greeted by the one and only Josie Woodwork.
"Hi Josie" I say "you're in front of my locker"
Josie looks behind her but doesn't move. "I know"
"Okay. Well can you move?"
"I have a question first" she smiles "ms Schreave"
My face falls "Josie not now okay?"
Josie smiles "sure thing" and she walks off triumphantly.
---
I couldn't get Josie's words out of my head all day. I wasn't looking where I was going and I bump into a hard chest and my books fly."Oh god not again" I whisper as I pick them up
"God Eady. You sure are clumsy" Kile laughs
I look up at him as he hands me my books "thanks" I whisper
Kile looks at me curiously "are you okay? You seem distracted"
"Yeah I'm fine"
"Promise?" He holds out his pinky
I laugh "are we five?"
Kile pulls back his finger in mock offense "pinky promises are the foundation of trust"
I laugh again "wow" I look up at him again and he's watching me funny. "Kile I swear if I've got something on my face just hit it off"
Kile laughs and bites his lip "you don't. And I will."
I look down "I should get to class"
I start walking to class with red cheeks and a huge smile on my face.
"Eadlyn! Eadlyn wait!"
I turn. "Yeah?"
"What are you doing after school?" Kile runs his hand through his hair.
"Uhm nothing I don't think. Why?"
He smiles "wait outside at three for me. I'm taking you somewhere" he winks and runs off to class.
I didn't think I could smile bigger than I already did but here I am. Smiling like an idiot in the middle of the hall.
