First chapter whoop whoop!
Night walked into the forest letting the soft green grass tingle his paws. Taking a deep breath he in hailed the scents of the beautiful forest. The birds were singing happily while squirrels ran from tree to tree and mice shuffled through the forest floor scavenging for food.
"It's the prefect territory! No foxes, badgers, humans or dogs near by. Their's plenty of prey here too!" Night added. Lux nodded happily. "But don't get too excited, we still don't know this territory" His sister reminded.
Night's smile vanished and was replaced with a frown. "Oh come it's gonna be fine!" Lux rolled her eyes. "That's what you said last time" She pointed out.
"Fine, fine. Come on now let's explore the territory!" Night meowed quickly forgetting his sister's concerns.
As they were walking Lux started up a conversation. "Your favorite prey is Robin right?" Night nodded. "Well, what if Robin never existed? Than what would be your favorite food?" She asked. Night though for moment. "Vole, their equally delicious!" He finally replied licking his lips. Lux gave out a mrow of amusement.
"I am gonna scout up a head. Stay here, I can smell prey!" She meowed. Night shook his head and sighed. "Your still hungry? I thought that squirrel filled you up!" Lux smacked her paw on Nights head(Don't worry it didn't hurt him). "If I'm hungry, I'm hungry!" She meowed, in a sassy voice.
Night sighed once more and sat down wrapping his tail across his paws. There was no way he could ever match his sister's sassiness.
He watched as Lux took a deep breath in hailing the scents. She walked a few steps forwards than quickly turned around walking to a couple of bushes, Night watched as Lux's tail vanished into the green leaves.
She returned a few minutes later with a small mouse dangling in her mouth. Though she was pleased with her catch it was obvious that she had trouble catching it. Her was ruffled and dirty with mud and thorns sticking out of it. Plus the mouse was laying in a awkward (Can we just take a moment and appreciate that I remembered how to spell 'awkward'?! XD yes I'm not that good a spelling) position.
"Did you have trouble catching it?" He asked as Lux took a bite out of her kill.
"Yeah it was kinda hard. The mouse some how knew I was there, so when it was about to run I pounced but it slipped from my claws. Luckily it was limping from my first pounce so when it started it was easy to catch up to it." She meowed swallowing down a piece of meat.
"And what happened to your fur?" He asked. "The darn mouse ran right through some muddy bushes." She explained quickly. Suddenly she stopped eating and narrowed her eyes, her was bristling and her claws were sheathed. "Lux what's wrong?" Night asked concerned.
"Some cats here, Night" She whispered. Night eyes widened in shock and fear. Smelling the air he realized that his sister was correct.
"You're right" he whispered back unsheathing his claws. "Of course I'm right" Lux meowed. Night didn't have time to be annoyed by Lux so he let the sentence slip by... this time.
Night and Lux both knew that if they were going up against skilled fighters, they would lose. But they couldn't just give up like that, could they?
Before Night could think anymore the pelt of a gray cat pounced at him. He felt a raging pain in his stomach and saw that his opponent was clawing his belly. Giving out a yowl of pain he rolled over to get away from the cat only to be struck from the behind.
Teeth sank deep into his scruff forcing Night to scream in agony. Night used his back legs to try and kick off the cat, surprisingly it worked. "The only reason that worked was because I caught my behind attacker off guard. Now they have full attention and are ready for anything" Night thought as he looked at his attackers.
He walked backwards and finally caught full view of his opponents. One was a young gray she-cat and another was a much older white she cat with orange patches on her fur.
"Come on Whiskerspirit these rouges don't stand a chance against us four!" "Four? Of course, there more that's why Lux is occupied!"
"What are you doing on our territory?" The white she cat snarled. Night didn't reply. "Not much of a talker are you?" The gray she-cat huffed. "Well than we'll just make you talk!" The same she-cat meowed pouncing. Night barely dodged the she-cats claws.
"Cinderpaw you mouse-brain!" The older she-cat growled. Night quickly took advantage of the situation and sunk his claws in the she-cats back. His opponent yowled in pain as Night tried sinking his claws deeper.
He felt teeth suddenly sink in his scruff and pulled him out. "No!" Night thought as the she-cat threw him and landed with a large 'thump' on the ground, right next to Lux.
"Night!" Lux meowed horrified at the sight of her brother. "I'm okay" He said weakly trying to get up. "No, he's clearly not okay" A low voice growled. Night and Lux both looked to see a large black and white tom.
"Look we've hurt you enough, I think it's time that you get off our territory-" He was cut off by the small gray she-cat.
"Wait Blackwave let's think this over. The rouges look like their alone! It would be cruel to chase them off! We should bring them back to camp and report them to the leader" Cinderpaw insisted.
The black and white tom shook his head. "No, Cinderpaw we can't do that we don't know if these rouges have any back up or not-"
"We're alone" Lux meowed firmly. Night was surprised why Lux would want to go with these cats, but he quickly realized that it would mean a chance at getting healed. "It's too dangerous." The black and white tom growled glaring straight at Night's sister.
"I think we should give it a try." The white she-cat meowed. "Plus if there were any other cats as back up for these two we would have already smelled them" Added a small dark blue tom from behind.
Growling the black and white tom started walking forwards "Fine, let's get them to Daisystar"
"Come, we're going back to camp" The white she-cat meowed following the black and white tom's lead. "I can't wait to see how every cat reacts to these rouges, especially the queens and elders" Cinderpaw meowed her eyes full of amusement as she started walking, the others close behind. "Or the warriors and kits!" The dark blue tom meowed.
Night's eyes widened as the two apprentices names the different ranks. Were they really so many cats living in this forest? "Cinderpaw, Juniperpaw and rogues you come on walk faster" The white she-cat meowed. "We have names ya know" Lux muttered. Increasing their pace Night and Lux both caught up to the white she cat and apprentices.
"My name is Cinderpaw and the tom's name is Juniperpaw." The gray she-cat meowed suddenly."We're apprentices training to be warriors" Juniperpaw added puffing out his chest fur.
"So what are your names?" Cinderpaw asked. "Lux" "Cool name" Juniperpaw meowed. "Thanks"
"And you?" He asked turning his head towards the black tom. The question had surprised Night but he still answered. "Night"
"Hmmm, that name suits you" Juniperpaw commented. Cinderpaw nodded.
"Yeah, your fur is as black as the night sky"
