Jasmine noticed that further they walked in the town, the more run-down the place began to look. The houses got smaller and more closely placed the further they moved on and less people were visible. She also noticed that said people did not seem to mind Eluard's presence but would either stare at her or send her nasty looks. She wondered why. She clutched her bag closer to her chest and walked with her head low to avoid making any form of eye contact with the people. Eluard did not seem to take any notice of her uneasiness but then again he had not said much to her ever since they walked away from the car. She decided not to say anything about it. The pair were walking past a bend when Jasmine felt a pair of eyes on her. She stopped and looked around. Her eyes landed on a woman dressed in a long black coat.
Winifred.
Jasmine smiled and waved at her. Eluard had stopped walking now and was watching Jasmine with curiosity. He still had not said a word. Winifred walked to them with a friendly smile on her face.
"Fancy seeing you two here," she said as she placed her hands in the pockets of her coat.
"I could say the same for you," replied Jasmine.
Winifred smiled at her mischievously.
"Wait, you two know each other?" interrupted Eluard.
"Why yes Ellie, we met the other day when she was in the middle of a little... predicament."
"I told you not to call me that," scolded Eluard in a joking tone.
Winifred chuckled before turning to Jasmine.
"If I recall correctly I informed you of an interesting event occurring in your near future and seeing that you are walking with Ellie over here it's already happened. Just don't walk through the wild grass and you should be fine."
Jasmine raised an eyebrow bewilderedly and opened her mouth to ask what in the world she was talking about.
"Oh, look at the time!" interrupted Winifred, "If you two will excuse me, I have some illegal potion brewing to get done. Cheerio!"
Before Jasmine could say anything, Winifred had already disappeared. She turned to Eluard and raised an eyebrow.
"Illegal potion brewing?" she asked.
Eluard nodded.
"Yeah, she does that a lot. Somehow she still has not been caught by the authorities. Now let's get a move on. It's not advisable to walk these paths at night."
Jasmine nodded and they continued walking, Winifred's words echoing in her head.
Just don't walk through the wild grass and you should be fine.
Whatever that meant.
Xxx
Somehow Jasmine had managed to zone out while walking for the third time that day. She was brought out of her daze when she tripped over a rock and barely managed to stop herself from face planting into the grass. She looked up to see that Eluard had stopped walking and had another worried look on his face. She got up and walked to where he was standing.
"Please tell me we aren't being followed again 'cause I really can't deal with that again."
"We aren't being followed. I'm just trying to figure out where we are," replied Eluard as he scanned the surroundings.
"So we're lost. It's not that bad since I've been doing this for about four days now so I'm kind of used to it. If I was any good at geography I would help you out but my map skills are worse than-"
