[3] - Why is he staring at her?

C h a r l o t t e

Unfortunately, it was Monday. And I still had to go to school. I love school and all, it's just that I was still sore from Friday. I sighed and rolled out of bed, beginning to get ready.

What should I wear?

I looked around my closet. I finally decided on a pair of high-waisted shorts and simple blue t-shirt with my sandals.

I brushed through the mess—my hair–and threw it up into a ponytail.

I grabbed my phone and purse, getting ready to walk to school. It was sunny in Sacramento a majority of the time, so I put on my sunglasses.

-

The school was overflowing with students, as always. I received a few stares, it's nothing I'm not used too.
Making my way to my locker, I noticed a few whispers here and there.

"I heard she gave her virginity to Aaron Orlando in the girls bathroom on Friday." A Junior whispered to her friend.

"Actually, Niall Horan took her from the bathroom and to the hospital. Maybe they had rough sex or something," Her friend replied.

I ignored the girls and got the items I needed for my first class.

-
Throughout the day, I felt like someone's eyes were on me. I didn't notice anyone looking at me, but I had that feeling that someone was.

It was now lunch and I was headed to the canteen for something I cherished very much.

Food.

I entered the canteen with a slight-bounce in my step.

I ordered pizza and a soda, along with a basket of chips and a jello cup. Then I thanked the lunch lady and walked over to Meredith's table.

Meredith was relatively popular, with her good looks and sassy attitude, which made boys drool over her.

"Charlotte!" Meredith smiled, waving me over. I stalked over, and took the seat next to her.

"Are you alright, from you know..." I knew she was talking about Friday.

"Yeah I'm alright. My ribs still hurt a bit, but other than that I'm fine." I smiled.

"How are you guys?" I asked the group.
Meredith's friends were my friends so I guess it was our group. It consisted of Paul, Jonah, and Mia.

"I'm fine, just a bit tired." Jonah replied, running a hand through his light brown hair, placing an arm around Mia afterwards.

"I scored a date with Kaya Blue." Paul smirked. I laughed and high-fived him.

"Someone's gonna get laid," Meredith said in a sing-song voice. Mia and I laughed at their actions while Jonah smiled lazily.

I heard a loud, high-pitched, barbie-like voice speaking from behind me. Her perfume was instantly filling my nose and I had to keep myself from gagging.

"Why is he staring at her? I'm a much better sight to look at." I turned around, seeing Bailey and Selena.
The 'queen bees' might I add. They pretty much run Sacramento High.

"Who's staring at me?" I asked sweetly, resisting the urge to smack them.
I'm nice to everyone, but these two girls are a whole different story. They pretty much ruined me, so that's why I decided not to get involved with their crap.

"Niall Horan, duh." She looked at me in disgust. Maybe she should go look in the mirror at herself. I mentally laughed to myself.

I looked to the middle of the canteen, where all the popular 'bad boys' sat.
Sure enough, Niall's bright blue eyes were staring at me.

•We can't talk, but we can look at each other

That was rule number two on the list.

Was I really going to follow through with this deal?

Well, I created it.
He just emphasized it.

"It doesn't really matter who stares at who," I began, but got interrupted.
Rudely interrupted.

"Why doesn't it?" Bailey snapped, crossing her arms.

"Yeah, why doesn't it?" Selena mimics Baileys actions.

Everyone's eyes in the canteen were directed on us, as if a cat fight was about to break out.

"Because, you're not exactly a good sight to look at," I smirked, causing everyone to gasp. I guess this was the meanest thing they've ever heard me say to someone.

I grabbed my purse, and sauntered out of the canteen.

Boom.
