"I was a cursed child Sanyukta... I am unwanted..." Sanyukta at once snapped her head up as she heard him voice those while they sat on the dining table, relishing the paranthas and chilled curd she served for breakfast. She watched him gazing at his food expressionlessly as he continued.
"I was never accepted by her..." He whispered in a daze.
"He took her side... All the time.. I cried, begged. I was a child then. What was my fault?" His expression resembled that of pain. Sanyukta kept listening to him in silence. She was too overwhelmed with surprise at his relevance.
"I..." Randhir was suddenly pulled out from his trance by the sound of the calling bell. He instantly realised his state then. He was going to reveal his deepest secret to her. He inhaled sharply thus gulping down the eager words which were dying to spill out of his mouth in front of her. He didn't know what made him pull the topic up but the thing that was itching him for few days was that he felt like revealing his bottled up emotions in front of someone! Someone who would probably understand him, his well wisher? Who could be his friend other than her at that moment? Moreover, he was preparing himself to reveal his real identity and make her aware of his backstory. He was totally done with this hide and seek!
Sanyukta shot her head up and walked towards the door, cursing the bad timming of the visitor to ring the bell and intervene in the 'Most wanted story' she wanted to hear so eagerly since ages, perhaps. Her mind was still in a daze, imagining the pain and sufferings he actually went through. His eyes radiated the gloominess. She snorted loudly and sprung open the door with an annoyed expression. The sight in front of her shook the earth beneath her.
"Sanyuuuuu...." A girl clad in a simple yet elegant short dress hugged her at once making her stumble two steps back to maintain her balance.
A handsome, tall boy stood behind her, smiling at the reunion of the two friends.
Sanyukta was still in shock and she took few minutes to register the fact that it was her friend from Cambridge who thought to pay her a delightful visit along with her husband who was still smiling warmly staring at both of them. She broke the hug and widened her eyes as the girl tightly cupped her head and pecked her head numerous times.
"I am so glad.. I can't even express how much delighted I am right now.. Just to see you.. So alive and so perfect.." Her eyes dropped few tear drops as she caressed Sanyukta's face lovingly. Sanyukta was perplexed. She never got visitors. Never in her wildest dream, she ever imagined to meet her long lost friend after they parted their ways. They were never in contact after Cambridge but she couldn't forget the favor she owed to both of them during her college days.
"Sanaya..." She breathed out in relief as her eyes twinkled.
"I am glad you remember us... I thought.. I thought lost you..." Sanaya's eyes were continuously flowing when Sanyukta took her in a bone-crushing hug.
"Aryan.. You guys..." Sanyukta exclaimed in a defeated tone as she detached their frames and Aryan held Sanaya close. Emotional toll took her in a swirl.
"Yes.. Us.. How are you Sanyukta...? It's been long..." He chipped warmly as Sanaya snuggled into his chest, sniffing lightly while Sanyukta led out a sad chuckle.
"She still the same cry baby..." She caressed her head.
"But you're still the same Sanyukta..." Sanaya spoke while Aryan beamed.
"I..." Sanyukta sighed.
"Aren't you gonna call us inside?" Sanaya pouted.
"Ah.. Oh crap... Come on.. Come inside..." Sanyukta slapped her forehead and called them inside. Sanaya walked in with her and Aryan pulled the trolley in, walking behind them.
"Sanyukta... You've got sucha lovely apartment... And..." Sanaya exclaimed checking out the whole house while Sanyukta walked behind her and halted as she stopped all of a sudden. Sanaya's eyes struck to a particular thing or precisely someone.
"And a hot husband too..." She found Sanaya turning back to her and winking. As Sanyukta's eyes trailed the path of her pointed finger, she found herself looking at Randhir who sat their clueless of the occurings. She was shocked.
"Oh.. No..no...no..no..no..." Sanyukta cried. "It's not like that what you're assuming..." She was perplexed.
"Oh is that so? Then what is it Sanyukta... Don't tell me you're in a live in?" Sanaya's expressions were symbolising tease which sudden turned of shock.
"Noh.. Of course not..." Sanyukta widened her eyes at her comment. "He's just..." She trailed off in her sentence and watched Sanaya's lips curve into a smirk.
By then, Randhir assumed that Sanyukta has got visitors and he instantly stood up from his seat before walking upto them.
"Sweetheart... Why are you teasing her...?" Aryan encirled Sanaya's waist and led out a sigh watching his friend getting grilled by his lady love.
"I am not teasing her... I just asked her a simple question..." Sanaya pouted while Aryan pecked her temple before turning to the embarrased duo. Randhir had by then walked upto the hall and stood beside Sanyukta who looked highly jumpy. Randhir's mind instantly clicked with the possibilities of her uneasiness. He too was equally perplexed watching the love birds getting cozy in front of the. He knew that they must have asked about him. Poor her, what would she even answer? Rarely people reside with their patients. He was none except a person whom she treated under her finest hospitality. Moreover, she knew nothing except his name. She was supposed to be awkward.
"Hi... Um.." He heard Aryan speaking to him, in a sense to know his name. He immediately smiled at him before advancing his hand for a handshake.
"Hey.. Randhir..." He exclaimed while Sanyukta looked up to him with a helpless expression. "Randhir Shekhawat..." He added as they shook their hands.
"I am Aryan.. Aryan Harshwal.. And this is my wife... Sanaya Jha Harshwal..." He spoke reciprocating his smile while Sanaya shook her hand with Randhir.
"We are Sanyukta's friends back from Cambridge.. I guess she had already acknowledged you with our identities..." Sanaya chipped in a friendly way traversing her gaze till Sanyukta who stood there, with an uneasy expression. She moved her head in negation as Randhir looked at her.
"Like what even Sanyuuuu? You haven't told him about us? Are you for real?" Sanaya exclaimed shockingly while Sanyukta and Randhir stared at each other awkwardly.
"Nevermind.. Now that we are here, we'll get along..." Sanaya remarked playfully swatting Sanyukta's arm and she caressed her arm looking annoyingly at Sanaya.
"Now now... I have got so much to tell you Sanyu." Sanaya grabbed her arm before pulling her along till the balcony. Sanyukta looked back at him with a helpless remark and he nodded his head assuringly.
The boys were left alone as they gazed at the ladies walking away.
A weird silence engulfed the room as the boys stared at each other awkwardly."Mrs Sanyukta Shekhawat huh?" Sanaya smirked and whispered teasingly in her ears while pulling her along and Sanyukta was left perplexed yet again.
