I hurried down the stairs and ran towards the reception area. My heart was hammering against my chest. Having no previous experience with such a complicated case, I had no idea what I was going to deal with. Only one thing remained my priority and that was to protect Randhir. Even if it did lead me to commit a crime by hiding him from others at that point.

My eyes widened at the sight of a small crowd of people huddled in the reception center. Five or six burly men in black had almost cornered my poor receptionist. I stood in front of them and coughed to gain their attention. The receptionist looked at me with a panicked face and I gestured her with an assuring nod.

"Hello sir, I'm Sanyukta Aggarwal, the Managing Director of this Home. How can I help you?" I pulled a tight fake smile at them, somehow managing not to break into sweats.

"Well, Miss Aggarwal, we have acquired information that you have recently rescued some
accident patient from the road and are treating him in your home. Is it true? Before you answer, know that our spies never get false news." One of the men, who seemed to be the wannabe leader, asked me in a hoarse voice.

"Sure, if you say so. Nikita has been a troubled patient. We couldn't contact her family for so long. Are you here for her?" I didn't feel bad for lying through my teeth. I kept on assuring myself that I was doing everything for Randhir. They didn't look like the sort of people who'd be good to reveal the truth to.

They looked quite taken aback at my words as they eyed each other in confusion.

"No we're not. I already told you that our spies never procure wrong news. They told us that it was a male patient." I bit the insides of my cheek and shook my head at his words.

"Of course not sir! Nikita has been our patient since a year. As I said, she's a troubled patient. She often attempts to elope from the hospital. She did so this morning before I managed to get her back. She was hit by a truck in the process and she's presently in the operation theatre. Poor girl cracked her ribs severely and has to undergo a series of treatments before she can stand back on her feet."

"We have to check your home once to assure ourselves..." The same man riposted.

Sanyukta somehow predicted that they would ask for the
same for sure. How badly she wished to run away from
all these! Ahh... Well... She had already promised herself
to protect him from any mishap from now on...

"Protect?" She laughed at her own statement mentally.

"Yahan khud ka koi thikana nhi hai, and m going to put
my own Nursing Home at stake for that... that boy?" She
slapped herself cerebrally. But she has to! Ahh...! Owing
something to someone is so perilous! And here, she
owned her life to him! That's a big thing!

"Ahem..." Her mental talks were disturbed by that man.

'That Devilish Stud'! She gritted her teeth internally, not
showing her anxiety to them. Totally infuriated by their
bossy looks, she decided to show them, who the actual
boss is, in here.

"Are u people trying to say that m lying? Like seriously?
Why on the earth will I lie for a patient?" She retorted
sternly, crossing her hands across her chest.

"I have the record of each and every patient admitted
here. And since the morning, not a single patient has got
admitted" Her voice was louder than before.

"But miss... We have to follow the orders given to us. And
for that we need to inspect ur home." The man was
clearly taken over by her sudden outburst.

"Oh well... u gentlemen want to scrutinize MY nursing
home which has a number of critical patients admitted,
even some are in operation theatre, some patients are
fighting with death and life and some are strictly kept
under sterility . And u think I am you guys to gonna allow
you to enter?" She scorned eloquently.
