"Sanyukta..." She heard a soft whisper and a gush of air brushed her locks away from her left ear. Her subconscious mind felt a cold surface underneath her body as she blinked her eyes slowly. The only thing her eyes viewed just after opening them was the only person she was running away from. He was sitting on the floor right in front of her body which was leaning against the door, face to face with at least an arm gap between them, their knees brushing. She at first got startled up at the sight, them sitting this close. She looked him in the eye which reflected nothing but concern for her state.

"What the hell Randhir.. You scared me..." She postured her frame and leaned back straight against the door, wiping the traces of the dried up tears with the back of her hand.

"Sanyukta.. Why are you doing this to yourself?" His voice was demanding.

"What?" She tried to behave ignorant about the matter he was speaking about. He sighed and inched closer to her such that his large palms cupped most of her cheeks. She tried to flinch back but his hold was strong and his eyes bore deep into hers, paralysing her limbs in seconds.

"Don't pretend that you aren't aware.. I know you're upset over that kiss.." Sanyukta jolted her head up towards him when he mentioned the kiss.

"And.. And I totally don't know how to.. You know.. Apologise for that.. Umm.. You know right?" He was nervous and helpless.

Sanyukta kept looking at him without blinking her eyes.

"Don't look at me like that..." He frowned and continued.

"I.. I don't know why Sanyukta... I had already told you , I felt like doing that at that moment. You weren't stopping your sniffs and would have never stopped justifying your past actions if I wouldn't have had intervened by kissing you..." He sighed looking at her expressionless face. The feeling was petrifying! He couldnt even speak without stuttering.

"You... I trust you Sanyukta.. As much as you do.. You are a responsible girl.. I know you wouldn't speak to anyone about me or my actual identity.. I know you won't put me in trouble or if you even do, it'll be totally acceptable.. You have given me this new life Sanyukta.. It belongs to you now.. My life belongs to you.." He didn't know why but those lines came out invountarily through his mouth. But he knew that each word carried truth.

"I won't let you thrive under any uncertain hopes Sanyukta... I want to tell you something..." He closed his eyes and her heartbeats raced haphazardly.

"I love someone Sanyukta... She.. She broke my heart and left me all alone.. I was shattered when she left me without even informing.. We.. We used to live together in Canada... I loved her so much... So much..." Sanyukta felt her hands involuntarily clutch the cloth of her kurti which covered her left chest. She felt a striking pain in her heart by the intensity at which he was professing his love for his lady. Her eyes automatically started to water when she felt the only ray of light in the corner of her heart getting dimmer and dimmer as he continued.

"Sanyukta, maybe.. Maybe she never wanted me.. Maybe there was some lacking in my love for her... Maybe she had all the reasons to ditch me.. But I don't have a single reason to lead my life without her.. She had become the reason of my existence till the time I figured out the actual face of her behind that facade.. I loved her so much that I was ready to accept her with all her faults.. But all she did was to betray me.. She was a puppet of their hands Sanyukta.. She did all that for herself... She was just pretending to be by my side. She made all those fake promises to me.. But what about my promises to her? How can I forget those? She was just another selfish woman still I loved her.. Every day, every moment, every second.. I thought I couldn't live without her... At that moment, I couldn't think of anything better than ending my life when it had nothing but only back stabbers filled in it. I felt so good to save an innocent life.. You... While back there on the road when you were laying beside me in the pool of blood, my eyes fell on you and for the first time in my life, I felt like I did something worthy enough to get me a place in the heavens.. I thought at least I could die in peace.. I was still conscious when you slid over my body and caught me in tightly in your arms.. Your eyes.. I felt so familiar looking into them.. You.. You did all that you could do... To save me.. To save a stranger.. You didnt think twice before putting your own life in danger for me.. And all I did was to push you away... I am unworthy of this care Sanyukta.. I am not habituated to all these.. I sometimes think whether all these, you.. is a dream or.. If it is, then I dont want to wake up... I am sorry Sanyukta... I.. I am really sorry for hurting you... I am sorry.."

Randhir had his head buried in her lap and he was crying, Crying out all his pent up emotions which needed a voice. He was suffocating. The pain wasn't only for a betrayal, it was also of his cursed life, the wounds that can never be seen by anyone and impossible to be healed. Sanyukta didnt know when she pulled him into her embrace and started to caress his hairs while he breathed out all his bottled up feelings and the agony he was suffering from, all these days. At that point of time, she barely cared about her feelings towards him. She was back to her original avatar who needed nothing but his happiness. She felt herself crying along with him. Randhir never knew when he went off track and spilled down all his feelings in front of her. He wanted to make her aware of his incapability of loving someone again but he just did the opposite. He didn't know but he ignite a spark of hope in his own mind, and that time she wasn't the victim but he was. Once again, he did what his heart wanted. His heart wanted her, a major portion of his inner sense cried out while he snuggled closer to her feeling a strange hollowness in his heart. What if he loses her too?
