Morning

Jake's POV

I wake up to bright light coming in from the window and a pounding in my head. I try getting up but something around me tightens. I look to see what it is and I find Dirk's arms wrapped around me and him curled up next to me. My face heats up as I remember a small bit from the night before. I lay there contemplating what to do next still in shock about last night. My eyes begin to droop and I pull the covers more on me. I suppose a few more hours of sleep won't hurt.

I then wake up to an empty bed and arguing outside the door.

"You idiot!"

"Hey you did the same damn thing!"

"Guys it's too early for this!"

I get some clothes on and stumble out the room to find Jade leaning against Dave, while the two brothers yell at each other.

"You didn't . . .ya know?"

"No bro, at least I don't think so."

"Hey." I say sitting down in a chair.

Everyone looks at me and the two brother's exchange glances.

"H-hey Jake, how long have you been sitting there?" Dirk nervously asks.

"Not long. Why?"

"No reason!" Jade says walking over to me with a slight limp.

"Jade why are you walking weirdly?"

"What are you talking about?"

"You're limping."

"Oh I um-"

Dave comes over and sits her down in a chair. "She slipped and fell while she was walking into the kitchen."

Jade nods and gives me a small smile.

Dirk walks into the kitchen and fills a glass up with water and brings it over with a few white tablets. "This will get rid of the headache."

I take the pills and I get up rubbing my head. How much did I drink? Hopefully one of them remembers or it might be better that none of them do.

"Hey Dirk do you remember what we did last night?"

"Yeah, you guys came over to get us, we all started drinking and just ended up watching a movie. You passed out after a while so I took you to bed and then I went to sleep too." It all seems suspicious to me. I don't normally drink, especially while on a hunt, if you could even call this a hunt, point is I rarely drink. And whatever I remember can't just be my imagination or a dream or anything like that, it feels too real.

I look over to Dave and Jade and they both nod agreeing with Dirk's story.

"Yeah Jake we were watching that movie with the blue people." Jade says happily.

"Oh, you mean Avatar?" I ask her.

"Yeah." She replies.

Dirk suggests that we stay in the hotel one more day to recover from the alcohol and we all gladly agree to it.

"I say we get food." Dave says, standing up. "How about pizza?"

"I'm okay with that." Dirk replies.

"I want pancakes!" Jade says hopping to her feet. She winces from the pain and then carefully sits back down.

"I'll agree with pancakes."

Dave shrugs and walks out the door and Jade gets up and follows, limping still. Which leaves just me and Dirk in the hotel room.

"About last night..." I begin.
