Jack was so pissed that he kicked a trashcan as hard as he can muster. The can landed almost ten feet away from him and it clatters to the ground, rolling even more further away. He has a scowl on his face as he did so and he sat on a wooden bench to steam off his anger that was radiating inside of him.
He remembers what happened a while ago. He was just minding his own business when a teacher came up to him and the next thing he knew, he was accused of something that he didn't even do. The teachers said that he cheated on his final exam and he was pissed because he didn't do any of it.
So if he has a high score? So what if he studied so hard? So what if he whipped his ass off just trying to get a mark that'll make him go to college? He was doing it for his little sister, Emma, who was just 8 years old. Their parents died just 7 months ago and he has to straighten things up to get his little sister to school. He wasn't the same old cunning troublemaker anymore. He was done, pass that and grew up a little too early just so he can get what his sister wants.
And now, they're accusing him of cheating even though it was all his determination. Even though that none of what they accused of him was true. They plan on giving him another chance and make him do another test, which is why he was even more pissed. He has to study all over again just so he can prove something. He hated this. He hated them.
"Are you okay?"
Jack slowly looks up from where the voice came from. His gaze landed onto some girl with platinum blond hair that was braided on her left shoulder. Her bangs were pushed back, making her blue eyes bigger and her pinkish lips fuller. She was wearing a white dress that reached her knees, blue doll shoes that strangely sparkled and a necklace that has a snowflake pendant around her neck.
She was unfamiliar and Jack was sure that she doesn't go to school or live here, considering that everybody knows everyone in their town.
"Who're you?" He demands, his eyes squinting suspiciously.
The girl smiles, the kind of smile that brightens the whole place even at the darkest hour. "I'm Elsa," she replies, a hand on her chest. "I'm new here."
Jack tilts his head, his ruffled hair falling onto his forehead, almost covering half of his eyes. He runs his fingers through it, pushing it back even though it was useless since it falls right back.
The girl giggles and she covers her lips with her fingers. "I'm really sorry to disturb you. What's your name?"
Jack grunts. "It's okay and the name's Jack." He shrugs and looks away. Out of the corner of his eyes, he sees her staring at him until she finally falls in step and sits right next to him.
"What are you so angry about, then, Jack?" She asks, looking at him with such rare innocence.
Jack ruffled his hair. "It's a stupid reason," he answers, not going to tell a complete stranger why though. She might spread rumors about him.
"What reason?" She asks, not wanting to let the subject go.
Jack sighs. Annoyed, he says, "why would I tell you? Can you just mind your own business?"
Elsa looks taken aback at his outburst but then she gives him an understanding smile. "If you're not going to tell me why, then, you're going to get into a bad mood all day long. Having a hothead will do you no good, you know? Plus, it's easier to tell your secrets to strangers since they won't judge you in any way."
Jack looks at her, doubt was evident in his eyes. Elsa didn't much less flinch or wince. She still kept a smile on her pretty and pale face. And for the first time in Jack's life, he breaks their eye contact. He never looks away in a stare contest except for his little sister and now, he couldn't handle the blue eyed girl sitting right next to him.
