Jelsa (11) His Star

Everyone was busy chatting and laughing around the bonfire. Anna was so deep into her conversation with Kristoff that she hadn't noticed that her marshmallow had already burned. Punzie's laughter filled through the air, unable to contain herself since Eugene was acting silly and all. Merida and Hiccup were too engross to their nonsense argument about fires and bows to notice anything around them. All were well, except for Jack who was staring at the fire that danced brightly.

He sighs and looks up the starry sky, trying to find constellations that spread out, hidden beneath the shining dots. He tries to find something, anything that'll keep him distracted, until he gave up. Just as he was about to tear his eyes away, he saw a shooting star. That caught his attention completely.

His jaw dropped in awe because this shooting star wasn't like any other star. This star shined more brightly as it zips through the sky. Jack suspected that it was a comet but he couldn't be sure when it left fragments of blue and purple colors behind its tail. Jack couldn't help but smile as the star disappears completely, living him with the memories that he didn't knew still existed in his mind.

The blue eyes, the platinum blonde hair, the cute smile. That girl in his mind haunted him and he has to rip his eyes away from the sky just so he can grip his sanity tighter. Just so he can forget the pain that the girl left him with. It pained him to think about her again when he was fairly sure that she had now forgotten him. Why couldn't he move on from her? Why can't he forget? Just a little second, why? Why can't he stop loving her?

He woke up from his thoughts when he hears an earth shattering sound. The lively ambience that his friends were bottled up in broke when Anna's ringtone bursts through their eardrums. What eardrum wouldn't burst when her ringtone was her shrieking? Plus it was full volumed as if the whole forest might hear them.

Anna fumbled through her phone and her friends waited for something. They watched as Anna's eyes widen horrifically and how her freckled face paled as if she just read or saw something dreadful from her phone.

"What happened?" Kristoff asks worriedly.

"My sister's home," she mutters to herself as she puts her phone down beside her. She suddenly jumped from her seat, almost giving them a heart attack. Her horrified face changed into an elated one and her pale face was now brighter than the fire that engulfed the wood in the middle. "My sister's hooome!" She squeals and giggles like a maniac.

Jack froze at her news. The words that she had spoken hit him like crashing tidal waves and left him suffocated.

Her sister... Is it possible that... He shook that thought out of his head. He shouldn't be affected. So what if she came back? It doesn't matter. She doesn't matter. Surely, she had forgotten about him like he wasn't the guy who loved her for the last 4 years. How they broke up was still a mystery for him and whatever reason they-she-had, it was still unknown.

"Jack?" He looks up and sees Rapunzel looking over at him with a worried expression on her face. "Are you alright?" She asks softly, gently, as if he was about to break down any minute because of the mention of his past lover.

Jack tries to give her an easy, care free smile, just so they can assume that the news didn't leave his whole heart shattering. But instead, his smile ended up to be forced and it quivers as he keeps it up.

"Yup," he replies nonchalantly to his blonde best friend. "Why wouldn't I be?"

Punzie's gaze softens with pity. "Jack, you don't need to hide it." She said before looking back at Eugene and slipping her hands off his grasp when he gives her an encouraging smile. She goes and sits right next to Jack with Eugene tailing behind.
