Hi guys. I'm just going to warn you that this chapter is really short and crappy. It's a filler chapter, i'm sorry to say.

I want to say thank you to everyone who read, voted and commented on my last chapter! THANK YOU! I mean, 11 comments (last time i checked), 9 votes and roughly 50 reads! LOVE YOU ALL!!

This chapter is deddicated to eshelfish for being the first one to answer the question correctly, although many of you guys got it right. Well done!

Again, sorry about the chapter. I'll make up for it! I just have so many ideas for this story!

Percy

Apparently almost getting killed and knocked out by a giant sea monster that really needed some Tic-Tacs wasn’t enough to stop him from dreaming.

Of course, it had to start off with Tartarus, didn’t it?

Percy was standing in the heart of Tartarus. The veins under the surface pulsed and bubbled and the air stank of sulphur and blood. Monsters howled in the distance.

“Are the seven on their way to Athens?” A disembodied voice boomed.

“Yes.” A male voice said no more than three metres away from where Percy stood. “They have no idea.”

“You mean they suspect nothing?” The voice roared with laughter. “Not even that son of Poseidon?” The hatred in its voice was enough to make Percy’s skin crawl. “Isn’t he supposed to be the most experienced fighter?”

“Master, you must be wary, he killed Polybotes-" The more human voice said.

“Pah! My brother! He’s such a wimp! Just like that upstart Jason Grace.” The voice snarled-probably a giant since his brother was Polybotes.

Well done, Jason. Percy thought. Made yourself more unpopular among giants than me. And that’s saying something.

“M-My Lord.” The human voice stuttered. “When shall we retrieve the sacrifices?”

There was a pause as the giant thought things through. “Wait a little bit more. Let them get to the outskirts of Athens.” The voice lowered. “And then smite them down. Take the son of Poseidon and the daughter of Athena alive. But in the meantime, throw some, ah, challenges in.”

“Yes, master.” The human voice murmured and the dream faded into reality.

Percy’s eyes flew open to see a fish dart past his nose, its scales rippling in the sunlight streaming through the dark blue water.

Percy’s heart was pounding in his head. How long had he been out?

He used the water to propel himself to the surface. His head broke above the water, but there was no Argo2, or any sign that it had been there. Despair crawled up his throat, and he tried to swallow the lump.

Were his friends in trouble? Or did they just sail without him?

Unless…Percy looked up, but there was no ship in the sky.

Frustration swamped him, and he dived back into the sea. He was in the same place as he’d been in when the monster had attacked-Percy’s navigation system told him that. But where were his friends?

Go, Perseus.  A feminine voice rippled through the water; as soft and kind as forest stream. You must follow your own path. You must make it to Athens by yourself if you are to survive. Go through the haunted sea caverns and battle your cursed brothers. Good luck, Perseus Jackson. I hope you survive.

Percy was shocked. “What? Wait, what do you mean? I have to travel to Athens by myself?”

There was no reply, but the silence seemed to confirm her words: Percy had to find the sea caverns and make his own way to Greece. Or he would die somehow while he looked for his friends.

He took a deep breath. “Father.” He prayed. “Show me the way to the haunted sea caverns.”

An unnaturally warm current swept under his feet, and suddenly a baby Basking shark shot out of the depths, nuzzling Percy with the tip of its nose. He decided to call the shark Jim.

Jim the shark bucked and swam forward at an alarmingly fast pace. But Percy easily caught up and dived into the depths of the ocean at high speed.

They arrived at the entrance to an underwater cave. At this point, Jim the shark was acting so skittish that Percy was sure he was going to bolt.

The cave looked dark and mysteriously silent and empty. Memories of death and dark, dark thoughts shrouded the entrance with the smell of poison.

“Hello?” Percy called out, and his voice echoed unnaturally through the water eerily, followed by haunted whispers and heavy breathing. Something definitely not human down there.

Jim the shark whimpered. It swished its tail from side to side uneasily and circled round Percy twice before it eagerly swam away.

“I don’t blame you.” Percy said to the shark, appraising the entrance to the cave for one last time before he used the water to propel himself forward and into the underwater cavern.

As soon as he swam over the threshold, the entrance closed with a sickening crack. Evil male cackling echoed through the cave, and a long tormented female scream rang out.

Percy’s hand closed round his pen. “Who’s there?” He demanded.

The voices quickly subsided, and soon there was only one whisper left.

“Our father…we will get our revenge…his favourite sons…once upon a time…casted us aside…Sweet, sweet revenge.” The voice murmured.

Percy uncapped his pen, and Riptide sprang out, ready for action. “Enough.” He demanded. “Show yourself.”

There was silence for moment, and then suddenly there was a dry, rasping male cackling.

“Percy Jackson…” They whispered together; a dry, rustling sound. “The great hero. Son of Poseidon. Our brother.”

Percy swallowed a lump in his throat. “I am no brother of yours.”

“Oh, but you are…” They murmured. “Come into the caverns. Prove your worth. Prove your blood.”

Percy desperately wanted to refuse, but something told him he didn’t really have a choice in the matter.

“Tell me who you are first.” He said, gripping the hilt of his sword tightly.

The voices hissed with laughter. “We are the Daimones Proseoous.” They said. “And there is no escape from your fate, Perseus Jackson.”
