Percy
Percy had forgotten how much he loved fighting.
Sure, it was scary but the rush of it all made him want to smile. He loved the feeling of adrenaline vibrating in his muscles. And he loved the fact that he good at it.
But Percy was hungry, cold and weak, and also facing an opponent much, much larger than himself. Of course he still felt that all too familiar adrenaline pumping through his body-that was probably the only thing keeping Percy standing up-but the energy running through him was weak and subdued by the fact that he had been fatally wounded.
Had been. The water had been extremely effective healing him.
Nevertheless, he still felt drained, as if he were going to collapse with exhaustion- which, if he did, would not only sign his death certificate, but also make him the lousiest hero of his generation.
Died of exhaustion. RIP Peter Johnson. Percy thought glumly.
While he was having his mental conversation with himself, the giant had been brooding, staring at Percy’s limping figure with a distant and Mwhahaha-I’m-Thinking-Of-Ways-To-Torture-You expression.
Yay me. Percy thought sarcastically.
“It has been a pleasure knowing you.” The giant daemon boomed. “I assure you that this is nothing personal.”
“Right.” Percy said. He didn’t really care whether it was personal or not when it came to anyone trying to kill him.
“What was that, little demigod?” The giant roared with laughter for no apparent reason. “It’s hard to hear from up here.”
Percy charged-hoping to surprise the daemon-but he just laughed and swept Percy away with his massive fist.
Percy landed in the water with a loud splash! but then used his powers to manipulate the water into a platform so that he was the same height as the giant’s shoulders.
Percy smirked at the daemon’s surprise and sent a wall of water between them, so the giant couldn’t see him.
The demigod dived into the lake below, keeping the wall suspended on the surface, still keeping the giant daemon blind.
“COWARD!” The giant roared, his voice muffled by the water. “SHOW YOURSELF!”
Percy ignored him and swam deep under the water, hoping the giant didn’t sense him.
He didn’t.
Percy went deeper and deeper into the water, really starting to feel that unfamiliar pressure on his head and body.
But that didn’t matter, because Percy had finally found the giant’s foot.
Just a few more metres. Percy thought, panting. This effort of keeping himself from being crushed was getting tiring. His arms and legs started to feel like lead.
