Chapter 13
//Skylar's POV//
"See you in a bit guys." I smile and wave before running towards my team, who's almost done warming up.
"What the hell Beckham? You're never late!" Coach Miller yells at me, as I'm getting closer to the rest of the team.
"Sorry Coach, I got caught up in something." I apologize as my head hang low. He shakes his head in disappointment and waves me off. As I'm getting closer to the girls on my team, I hear a lot of whispering and dirty looks are given to me. I decide to step a little further away from them and just warm up by myself.
It's hard, you know? All the whispering, all the talking behind your back, all the rumors, it just kills me. Why should it happen right now? I know I'm late and it's my own fault if I don't play my best today. I know it's my fault if we lose and if coach makes us do extra training. It's my entire fault.
"Hey Skylar!" I look up and see a few of my teammates in front of me, looking at me with their hands on their hips.
"Hey... Mandy." I say unsure to the girl who called me out before.
"I saw you arriving with 5 Seconds Of Summer AND One Direction. Are you, like, their sex-toy now or something?" She laughs, which makes the other girls laugh. I look down, feeling the tears starting to threaten. Are people really thinking of me like that? Luke was right. I'm just a slut.
"No, I'm just their friend." I whisper.
"What was that? I couldn't hear you. Where's little confident Skylar, huh?" They start laughing again and this time I've had enough.
"You know what Mandy? She died a long time ago. Actually she never existed. It was all a fucking facade to fuck with your minds, but right now I really don't care what you think because those boys are my fucking friends, okay! At least I'm not sleeping with them like you do with the whole football team!" I yell and push her away from me. Have you ever felt like a really strong person just seconds after your outburst, but then feel like shit right after? Yeah I'm feeling like that already. I meant every word I said but some of it was just something I should have kept for myself.
"You bitch!" I suddenly feel a push in my back and I fall to the ground. The whistle blows and Coach runs over to us to stop the fight there's about to happen.
"Girls stop this shit! This isn't how you are on a team, okay? So if you don't stop this right now you're off the team." He yells looking between Mandy and I the whole time.
"Whatever." I say and walk over to my bag, which I dropped right next to the boys. All I can say is, I'm glad the other team isn't here yet.
When I get to my bag, I can see from the corner of my eye that Luke is making his way over to me, but Harry is just a little faster than him so Luke just walks back to the others.
"What happened out there?" He asks kind of concerned.
"It doesn't matter." I say quietly and take a sip of my water. I put the water back in my bag and pull out my sports tape, which helps my knee to stay in place.
"Skylar, look at me." His hand softly grabs my face to make me look at him. "I can see it matters. Don't play that game with me." I just nod and turn my head back so I look in my bag again. I see the other team coming from the locker room and I quickly put on the tape to stabilize my knee. As I'm about to run out on the field, a hand grabs my wrist and pulls me back into his chest. Of course it's Harry who did it. He just can't let it go.
