Firehouse Dog Fanfic | The Dogpatch Family | The Arson Mystery Solved

Inside the most expensive suite in town was Rexxx completely delving into a fancy plate of specially cut meats – his stomach grumbling with satisfaction. After leaving the Fahey's at the Benefit, they had gotten into a black convertible and moved to their hotel for the night. A plane was scheduled to take them back to Hollywood the next day. Trey knew Rexxx would want some down time before getting back into the limelight so he was buying a bit of time before they jumped straight back into action.

"Hey, Rexxx." Trey called, pouring himself a large glass of champagne for both himself and Liz, his human best friend, and person to turn to in his emotional times of need. Ever since Rexxx had disappeared off the radar and deemed dead by the public, they had been spending and an awful lot of time together. Trey had been an emotional wreck, understandably, and Liz had been there with him to get over to the other side, and it was even with her help that they had found Rexxx here in the first place. "It's good to have you back, buddy."

Liz Knowles was like a miracle all in one and he loved her for that.

Trey looked up from the drinks he had just poured into glasses, looking at Rexxx with shock by just how fast the meat was being choked down, "Jeez, dude, what were they feeding you?" He exclaimed, "Kibble?" Chuckling at the idea of his Rexxx even touching the stuff in order to satisfy hunger.

As Trey picked up the glasses, making his way over to Liz, both were just constantly looking over to the dog with amazement – unable to believe that Rexxx was actually with them after being missing and presumed dead for so long. It was hard to believe, but both of them were immensely glad he was back – Trey more than any of them.

Liz accepted the glass being offered to her, "This is so unreal, Trey." She commented, shaking her head in disbelief. She was sitting on the cushioned futon with her left leg hanging over her right, her body turned towards Rexxx and the nearly devoured food plate.

"Oh! I'm telling you..." Trey flopped himself beside her, looking completely comfortable as he inched a little closer to her, "Deep down, I KNEW it was gonna take more than some nose dive to stop Rexxx."

"Right, buddy?"

Rexxx finished eating the meat and looked up, hearing his former and now current again name called out to him. A little growl exited his mouth, agreeing with his Trey – actually, he wouldn't have survived that fall if the tomato filled truck hadn't been passing at that particular moment. He would've become a squished tomato himself if nothing hadn't cushioned his fall.

"Eat up." Trey advised him in return, "You need your energy."

"So," Liz twisted her body so she marginally faced Trey, her face full of wonder. "What are you guys gonna do first?" She questioned with a smile on her lips, remembering back to the ceremony that had been arranged for Rexxx during his period of demise. All the things Trey had said about wanting to do normal dog things with his best friend came rushing back to her. "Come on, tell me!"

Trey finished taking a sip of his drink before looking over to her, and the look on his face showed that he had absolutely everything figured out already. "Well first ... press conference."

And then, the smile on Liz's lips slowly started to falter and she began blinking with confusion.

"I've got the campaign all figure out. How about this?" Trey continued, not noticing the change in her facial features. "Rexxx – The Resurrection."
