The week went on quickly again, and before Amber knew it, the Firefighter's Benefit had arrived. Reluctantly, she had put on a black sleeveless summer dress with a brown belt around her waist – her feet had unenthusiastically been slipped into a pair of brown boots that had a good enough heel to it. Her wrist had a beaded bracelet around it and her hair was styled into a half up/half down look, the strands curled lightly at the ends to give it some volume.

The Firefighter's Benefit was held in a ballroom hall downtown, outside of District 55's territory. The lights were low but there was enough light to see everything and the place was full to the brim with rich people. (excluding Dogpatch who were the star guests of the evening) Corbin Sellars was once again hosting the big event, all suited up in an impeccably expensive suit – he was currently standing up on the stage in front of everyone, an index card and microphone in hand as a single spotlight shone towards him.

"Okay, we've just gotten the tally." Corbin Sellars began, getting everyone's attention for a moment, "Now, this little reception has raised over $100,000 for our firefighters." As everyone in the room clapped in celebration; waiters and waitresses starting wandering around the room, offering exquisite snacks to any hungry guests. "Give yourself a round of applause. And while you're at it ... how about something for our honored guests from Dogpatch Station – Engine 55."

Suddenly a spotlight lit up around Amber and Dewy, including Connor and Zach who stood behind them. Amber gave an uneasy smile as everyone in the room turned towards her direction, clapping with cheers. She really hated attention – maybe she should have asked her father to do this act with Dewy after all. Another spotlight spun towards Joe, Terrence, Pep, and Lionel too who stood near to the side. They were definitely liking the attention given to them.

"Alright, seriously, let's get to the real reason we're here tonight." Sellars continued, getting everyone to quit with the clapping and turn back to him with their undivided attentions. He gestured his arm over to Dewy, the dog who silently sat next to Amber's feet, "This little pooch has been on CNN, Fox News, and all five of the local news channels." Amber's heart started to beat faster with nervousness, her palms sweating just a little because she knew the man was about to call her and Dewy up to the stage.

"Please welcome, the pride of Engine 55 ... Dewy the wonder dog and his girl, Amber Fahey!" He announced while another round of applause erupted around the room. Amber let out a huge breath before moving forwards towards the stage, trying to pretend that she was practicing all this in her bedroom again in order to get through her stage fright.

Lionel and Terrance quickly set up the props she was to be using during the demonstration she planned for the evening – a small ramp and a mini set of stairs. She made up a few tricks to use during her time up on stage.

Corbin Sellars continued to talk as the set-up went underway, "Now, Amber is 17-years-old and Dewy is an undetermined age ... like me." Making the joke on him, starting a round of laughter from the audience. Amber stepped up onto the stage, Dewy next to her as the man finished his allotted time with the microphone. "Anyhow, have fun." With his usual arrogant look, plastered over with a smile – the man gave the microphone over to Amber after she took Dewy off his leash.
