Chapter 21

"What was that for?" Adria asked as she followed me in.

"I'm just trying to make things easier." I said.

"But he hurt you!" Toni replied.

"Well who said I didn't care about him?" I asked.

"Why should you? He hurt you and he didn't even have a good reason for it!" Adria protested.

"Just stay out of it for now okay?!" I exclaimed. "I need to get ready for training and so do the rest of you."

Toni and Adria walked out and Tabitha and I got ready.

During training I found myself just staring at Zach. I couldn't even focus on what I had to do. What a waste.

I made my way to the cafeteria when Mark stopped me.

Great. Just the person I want to see...

"So I was talking to Zach. I told you to stay away from him. Now you learned that he can't commit to anything." He scolded me.

"I don't have time for this. I came here to eat and leave. I have some more training to do." I said and simply walked away.

I can't deal with all these people anymore.

After lunch I kept training until Zach walked in.

"Hey..." He said.

"Hi..."

"Um... If you don't mind I'll help you train."

"I think that would be nice."

He gave me a smile and I returned it.

"What do you want to learn?" He asked.

"This sounds dumb but I thought it would be cool to learn how to throw spears. I'm not going to use it while fighting but it sounds fun." I replied.

"That's not dumb. I can teach you that in my sleep!" He bragged.

I giggled.

He walked over to the rack of spears and called me over.

He showed me the basics and whatnot. Then it was time for me to try.

I couldn't do it for my life.

"Let me show you." Zach said.

He grabbed my hand and positioned the spear correctly and his free hand slid onto my hip for support. He helped me throw the spear and I actually got the hang of it.

I turned around and his eyes locked onto mine. I wanted to kiss his soft, silky lips but then I realized we aren't a couple anymore.

I quickly shifted my gaze.

"Um I think you've got it. I'll be focusing on myself now. I don't want to not be ready." Zach said.

"Yea." I all I could say.

I half smiled and walked out and up to my room. I guess I can just relax for the rest of the day.

I just woken up from my nap and I checked my phone.

So many messages!

Adria- OH NO

Toni- What?

Adria- Lex moved the war to tomorrow!

Mark- What?! Half of us aren't ready!

Zach- Yes we are. Guys we can do this.

Simon- But one of us could really get hurt!

Tabitha- Well I feel like all that matters is that all of us as in our group are ready.

Travis- I agree with Tab.

Adria- I guess you guys have a point.

Mark- What about my sister? Is she ready?

Zach- Idk

Toni- Yes

Tabitha- Totally. She's probably the most ready out of all of us.

Mark- I guess I can't argue with that.

I smiled. Then I started typing.

Me- I'm pretty sure I'm ready but I wouldn't say I'm the most ready.

Tabitha- Yes you are. You're always ready for everything

Me- I guess I am.

Zach- You're ready. Trust me.

Me- Thanks.

I put my phone down and went over to Adria's room. I found Toni passed out on the floor and Tabitha asleep on Adria's bed.

"This" Adria said pointing to Toni and Tabitha. "Is what happens when you train with friends and invite them in for a rest."

I laughed.

Adria looked at me seriously.

"You're ready."

"I know I am."

But I wasn't sure if she was talking about the war or Zach...
