The wind picked up, rustling the leaves of the surrounding cluster of bushes. The trees remained dead still compared to the growing violent shaking the thick brush was taking till it was clear this was no wind, but something traversing at a high velocity.
A giant metal sphere blasted through the sticks with a shocking explosion from a deep blue light, ripping leaves behind it, scattering them through the smog of this hovercraft's exhaust.
Dr. Ivo 'Eggman' Robotnik  was zipping deep through the forests of Earth, searching for the remaining parts of his mechanisms after his previous battle with Sonic the Hedgehog.
All that remains, like always, is his hovercraft he uses to almost escape every single battle he has had with that blasted blue rat.
Sonic somehow managed to do what he always does and foil the Doctor's plans for building his Eggman Empire. No matter what he did Sonic always seemed to save the day, him and his dastardly help from his friends. Ever since the resistance formation only being a call away, or if the entire world is destroyed—ruining the future—Silver shows up to help change it back to the way it was before! That being said, Sonic has had even more of a chance now than he has ever had by himself, and even then, he was still winning.

Dr. Eggman was looking into new and different methods for defeating Sonic, at all costs. He didn't care what it would take unless that blasted hedgehog and his friends were out of the pictu-*CLANK*

Dr. Eggman flew back out of his hovercraft—which managed to slam into what appeared to be a mound of solid dirt. From what the hovercraft made visible between all the moss and vines, a steel door was found dented behind the now wedged hovercraft.
Dr. Eggman jumped back up and pulled out a staff about half the size of him. On top of the staff, he clutched a darker blue glistening stone.

A Chaos Emerald.

Eggman was done taking chances of letting Sonic get all of the emeralds. If one was turned into an item the Doctor used all the time, then they won't be able to race in—snag it—and leave as easily. The normality of Eggman incorporating the emeralds into his machines was about the same percentage as Tails, yet Sonic seems to grow stronger each day. A corruption, a distraction, some world altering event to make this hedgehog stumble is what the Doctor needs.
He tapped the staff on the ground three times with the staff.
*thunk thunk thunk*
Eggman's hovercraft turned on, shooting backward in a sudden burst of energy almost running him down, leaving the vines that were held back to let loose and sway, trying to cover the mysterious door once again.
Shooting up from taking a dive to avoid being run over, Eggman scrambled over to the mound of dirt, rubbing his temple in confusion to help make it stop pounding from all the impact he keeps going through in this short period of time.

"Could this be an old resource base I launched away?" He thought as he brushed the vines and moss away, twirling the ends of his long bushy moustache, starting to show some grey intertwined through his natural ginger brown.
"I have no recollection of it and this entire island is new grounds to me, yet, this technology seems oddly familiar..." He graced the wall with his fingertips as a small trickle of energy traversed the grooves of the door in a heartbeat like rhythm.
A blue line of light scanned his body then disappeared, making him straighten up at the line that flashed before his eyes. Not long after, a robotic female voice spoke up saying, "Professor Robotnik, confirmed... Welcome Professor.". The door then opened, revealing fog to slowly waft out of the base, into the cool summer air, while Eggman—without hesitation entered the hidden base pondering to himself what other secrets his grandfather could be hiding, and just how long has this been down here.
Inside was dark and musky making it sting Eggman's nose hairs. The mound of dirt only was capable to contain two control panels, one being connected to a large black object that was off to a far end of the cavern, and the other which seemed to be connected to the wall. Whatever maintenance that was being kept up has deteriorated over the course of a few decades to what the current Robotnik could put together. His spectacles scanned each pebbled giving Eggman a time frame as to when this place was built and when it was abandoned by his grandfather himself.
And why...?
Heading over to the one larger computer-like machine against the left hand wall, Eggman slaps a chip on the side of the wall, letting a teal-green light to trickle through the components of the machinery,  getting it up and running in no time at all, boasting his high scaled IQ to shine, finding out that the control panel he was at is the main source of power.
A holographic screen then appeared above his head against the wall.
