"The gym battle's today!" Britney squealed, hugging Torch. I rolled my eyes and peered out the hotel window, watching as the sun slowly rose over the horizon. I was still unsettled by the creepy dream.
"Hey Horn!" She called, but I ignored her.
"Hooorn!" Britney said again. "Look at me! We're going to train outside."
I huffed, deciding I didn't want to be trapped inside that Pokeball again, and turned around. Britney grinned. "Let's go!" She exclaimed, walking out the door. Me and Torch followed, casting glances at each other.
"Just remember what I told you yesterday," Torch growled. "I'll always be her favorite."
"Gladly," I snarked back. "Its nice we agree on something."
We exited the hotel and for once, I was able to get an idea of where we were. A could faintly see the tip of the mountains in the distance, so I'm guessing we were about an hour away. We were in a small town, with the Pidgey Diner, our hotel, a couple random houses, a training place, and the Silver Gym.
"Omigosh, I am sooo excited for our battle," Britney yakked on. I blocked her out and studied the trainers and Pokemon walking around.
I guess the Pokemon here enjoy their trainers. I saw a Lopunny and her trainer walking close together, a Snivy with her vines wrapped around her trainer's hand, and a Treecko sitting on his trainer's shoulder. Just for your information, I'm not like that, and I never will be, period. This isn't just some story where I learn to love Britney. No way.
"How should we train?" Britney squealed, looking around. I hope she doesn't notice that training building. I'm not a big fan of being inside, really. "There's some space over there, let's go!"
She suddenly darted off, and I scampered after her, trying to ignore the pain in my chest. That burn isn't going away soon, I knew.
"Alright!" She said. "Horn, show me what you can do." She stepped back with Torch on her shoulder, looking smug.
I glared and faced a piece of wood lying absently on the ground. My horn began to glow, and I spun, sending whirling blades flying off and striking the wood, snapping it in half.
"Ooh, that one's so cool," Britney exclaimed. "I think it's called... Uh... I have no idea what it's called. I'm just gonna call it Horn Throw. That sounds cool."
I rolled my eyes. It's called Psycho Cut, for her information.
"What else?" She pressed.
I spent the next twenty minutes showing the moves I could do; Psycho Cut, Bite, Future Sight, Quick Attack, Double Team, Slash, Sucker Punch, Razor Wind, and Leer. Then Torch took up another fifteen minutes showing off his moves; Peck, Scratch, Growl, Slash, Fire Spin, Flamethrower (I growled at this one), and Ember.
"Awesome!" Britney exclaimed, clasping her hands together. "And the Gym Battle's in half an hour. We are so gonna win."
I sat back, feeling slightly amused but depressed at the same time. We aren't 'so gonna win'. I'm gonna go in there, fight for my trainer (kidnapper) that I met less than 24 hours ago, get all beat up for nothing, and have to go through it all again later.
Great. Just what I wanted to do today.
"Anyways," Britney rambled on, sitting down. "The gym we're going to doesn't have a gym leader, so we're just paired up randomly with somebody else, isn't that weird? Turns out there are lots of gyms like that in this region. I wonder who we're gonna get paired up with? Whoever it is, we're gonna beat them!"
