13 - Families

"Mom... Don't leave me..." I sobbed as i see her weakening body in the hospital bed.

She has cancer. We couldn't do anything about it because we're poor, I only have enough money for her funeral.. ever since that day, i lost everything in our fortune.

It's his fault. The person i used to call 'dad' he divorced mother and took half of our savings in the process. He needed to work for us in another town, to help OUR family, yet he met a woman there and... How could he stoop so low? right now, he probably started a new family, and has forgotten about us... Not that I care anymore.

"Mom, please..." I cried

"Sweetie, my time has come. We cannot change it" she smiled weakly at me as I let the tears flow. "Promise me, dear. Be strong.... and follow your dreams... and someday, find the right person who you want to spend the rest of your life with... I love you, honey."

She spoke her last breath. I cried for what seemed like hours... Mom, come back... please.

*end dream*

"Don't leave me!" I shouted and woke up. shit. I realized I was crying.

"Bad dreams?" Eduardo asked.

I forgot about this... Ehem, since it was freezing in here, Eduardo HAD to hug me as we slept while his coat was wrapped around us. something about sharing body heat... that's it, nothing more. still, i couldn't help but get embarrassed, I don't exactly sleep while being hugged. by a guy. It's against the rules in Dres Van for an unmarried couple to stay in the same room so.... Joshua and I stayed in different rooms.

"A sad dream, to be exact." I replied while trying to wipe away the tears but failing.

"What is it about?"

"My mom... when she died in the hospital due to cancer, and I couldn't afford the treatment so.... yeah." I smiled sadly.

"That's awful..." Eduardo whispered, his hot breath sending shivers down my spine. Damn, I wish we can leave tomorrow! i just realized that Eduardo was the first man that I hugged while sleeping. Even Joshua and I did not sleep together!! This is so wrong!! WTF!!

"Your dad, wasn't he in your dream?" Eduardo asked, breaking me out of my thoughts.

"I have no father." I said, my voice unexpectedly came out coldly.

"You don't have a father?" Eduardo was a bit shocked.

"He was working in another town for us, but he met a woman there and fell in love with her so he left us..." I had no trace of emotion in my voice.

"He left you..? then, how come you're so cheerful. Don't you feel any anger or sadness at all?" He asked

"I was really mad at first, Sending a few curses here and there.. but what will anger do? What's done is done, I just have to change the way I deal with it. Anger will just warp a person's mind.." I sadly said

Eduardo didn't say anything but I felt him hugged me tighter.

"What about your family?" I asked curiously

"i don't have a family." his voice was emotionless.

I nodded and closed my eyes and tried to fall back to sleep, but failed because of Eduardo.

"How can you sleep like this?" He asked.

"What do you mean?"

"Aren't you nervous, ya virgin?"

I felt heat rise up to my cheeks as I blush a thousand shades of red. What the hell!?

"Stop saying 'virgin'! and I understand we have to do this to survive this freezing atmosphere, from now on, saying that word is FORBIDDEN!"

Eduardo chuckled, what a sadist.

"Go back to sleep, we're returning tomorrow." He said. I could tell he was smirking as usual.

"Okay." I simply answered and fell back to sleep.

*Eduardo's P.O.V.* (first time making his P.O.V. :D )

I watch her as she sleep peacefully. I can't believe she had a past like that... it doesn't seem like it, she was just so carefree and and optimistic, i really wasn't expecting it.

As I watch her sleep, i felt something I never felt before..

I'm falling for her...

This is bad. I swore not to have feelings for anybody, then again, I can't control it, can I?

Not good, I have to hide it.. it's for the best. after all, she's also engaged and already have someone she loves...

She needs to go back to Dres Van as soon as possible or things will get worse. it's for the best.

I looked at her. I caressed her long brown hair.

"Rei... " I whispered. Rei shifted in her sleep.

"Mmm.... Joshua..." Rei whispered.

Joshua...

As expected, she truly loves him. I sighed but somehow felt relived. I hugged her tighter and closed my eyes as i slept, mixed emotions filled my mind as I held her in my arms....
